everything and everyone he loves, includinghis family. Over years of gruelling training, Li transforms from an impoverished peasantto a giant of the international dance scene.Li’s courage, resilience and unwavering hopefor a better life for himself and his familymake The Peasant Prince a story to ignite ourown aspirations to be the best person we canbe. Audiences will be captivated by thisinspiring story.

Li Cunxin’s iconic autobiography Mao’s LastDancer was also published as children’s picturebook, The Peasant Prince. Monkey Baa ishonoured to be working closely with Li to bringthis story onto the stage. A tale told withenormous heart, and a perfect production toexplore intercultural experiences, texts fromother countries and times and stories exploringpeoples and cultures of Asia - amongst manyother links to programs and units in various KLAs.

MONKEY BAA’S PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENTFOR PRIMARY TEACHERS

An accessible course designed to arm Primaryteachers with Drama-based activities toutilise across the entire curriculum. Learnhow to increase effectiveness andinclusiveness in the classroom, using Dramain Maths, History, Geography and other KLAs.We will share lesson plans, introduce newpractices, shape ideas to suit different units ofwork, and arm you with an assortment ofstrategies for your classroom. This120-minute workshop can be delivered inschools, or in our home venue, the LendleaseDarling Quarter Theatre.

Completing Drama as a Teaching Tool: Primary will contribute 2 hours of QTCRegistered PD addressing 2.1.2 and 3.5.2 from the Australian ProfessionalStandards for Teachers maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

Monkey Baa’s Year 6 Blast Off! is a 90-minuteworkshop for Year 6, which uses practicalactivities and role play to ready students totransition into Year 7. Blast Off! will fire upconfidence, strengthen social skills and makethe unfamiliar more manageable for Year 6students, as they prepare for the milestonetransition from Primary to Secondary School.

This workshop uses Monkey Baa’s trademarkapproach of applying Drama teachingstrategies to achieve outcomes in other areasof the curriculum, and pastoral care objectives.Delivered by a Monkey Baa Teaching Artist inyour school, this workshop has proven resultsand is an immensely beneficial experience..Contact us to make an arrangement that suitsyour school.
