When to Wipe? Over the past few months, COVID-19 has required us to make a number of changes to how we celebrate Mass. Rituals such as the sign of peace, and our practices such as distributing Communion and taking up a collection have all been altered. They may stay changed for quite some time; perhaps forever. One of our more recent practices is the wiping down of pews at the end of Mass. It is important for us to ensure the health and safety of our community. For all of us to help out, we are reminded that the care of the church building is our shared responsibility. Please dont start cleaning the pews before Mass is ended. There is silent prayer after communion as well as notices, prayer after communion and blessing and sometimes commissioning of communion to the sick. The sound of packets of wipes being opened can be disruptive. So while we may be eager to head out into the world to announce the Gospel (as we are called to do at the end of every Mass), please wait until after Mass has ended before any cleaning of pews begins. - Robert Barden (Liturgy Committee) No Children’s Liturgy READERS & COMMENTATORS: 12th & 13th September 2020 MASS TIME READER COMMENTATOR Saturday 6.00pm Jenny Moloney Don Crockett Sunday 8.00am Jeanne Mendis Cat Paulo Sunday 10.00am Anna Maria Cliven Diana Bland Sunday 6.00pm Mark Attwood Colleen Fuller Every 2nd Thursday, parishioners volunteer to clean the church after 9am Mass. When to Wipe?

Over the past few months, COVID-19 has required us

to make a number of changes to how we celebrate Mass.

Please don’t start cleaning the pews before Mass is ended.

“If your brother/sister does something wrong, go and have it out with him/her alone, between your two selves.”

Disputes inevitably occur between people, be it in families, religious communities, parishes or friendship groups. In this Sunday’s gospel Jesus outlines the process of

reconciliation to be followed by his disciples whenever divisions and disputes occurred. It is good to look out for opportunities that arise that might enable us to reach out to someone with whom we are estranged. Something as simple as a card at Christmas, Easter, birthday or significant anniversary can be a non-threatening way of signalling one’s readiness to resume contact. As indeed can a text message or a phone call.

In the end, it does not matter if you use the Jesus method or some other method, the love Jesus revealed to us requires us to be prepared to try and mend whatever it is that separates us from others. It can make such a difference to our world and stand in stark contrast to a wider world which tends to seek solutions to differences and disagreements through threats and shows of military might.
