No formal pre-requirements BUT: Some previous knowledge of basic
economics and economic policy issues would be highly desirable.
Students are advised to follow current news related to the world economy, central banking and currency issues.

Reading will be indicated separately for each course
The concept of money, its functions and place in the legal system
Money supply, creation of money, monetary system
Central banking Currency and foreign exchange Monetary unions Specific focus on the EU and euro Specific focus on legal aspects Focus on discussion and practical examples
An early exam in oral and written form is envisaged approx. in mid-January
Two exams in written form (essays) will be scheduled during the regular exam session
One re-sit exam in late February for students who fail during the regular exam session
3 questions, 60 minutes Use of any materials prohibited (exact
quotations from legal acts will not be required)
