This week we will be looking at spiders and our natural
environment. We will focus on how plants grow and create an amazing habitat for different
minibeasts.
Monday
Do you know where I like to spend most my
time?
MondaySpiders live nearly everywhere!
They live in your garden.
Some live by the ocean.
Monday
Task 1: Can you create two lists, one for places you would like to
live and another one for the places you wouldn’t like to live.
Places I would like to live
• By the sea.
• Somewhere with lots of
flowers and trees.
• Where there are lots of
other animals.
Places I would like to live
• Somewhere cold.
• At the top of a mountain.
• Somewhere dark.
TuesdayWhat do spiders look like?
• They have 8 legs. • A spider has two body
sections.• They have eyes, a mouth and
fangs.• At the front of the spider’s body they have two small legs. • They come in different sizes.
TuesdayWhat do spiders like to eat?
• They are predators. • They like eating insects and other
spiders. • Some very large spiders even eat
lizards!
Tuesday
Task 2: Try and make yourself a menu of your favourite foods. Is
your food menu similar to a spiders?

YUMMY!
WednesdaySpiderwebs!
1. Spider webs don’t just trap prey, they actually attract the
prey.
2. Spiders make their spiderwebs big so
they have more of a chance to catch
insects.
3. The spiderweb is made from silk, which the spider
produces by itself.

Task 3: Think about the good and bad points about spiderwebs. Have a debate with someone,
where one of you thinks creating a spiderweb is a good thing and the other person thinks they are
a bad thing. Explain why?
I think spiderwebs are good because
they catch my food very easily. I just have to sit and
wait.
ThursdayHabitats and plant growth
Different plants create amazing homes from all different types of animals. A habitat is the type of natural environment in which a
particular species lives.
How do we make a habitat?
How would I grow a flower?
What habitat could I create
to attract certain
minibeasts?
ThursdayLets compare two different habitats.
Rainforest Desert
• Lots of trees.• Rain.
• Very big.• A very warm place.
• Lots of plants, animals and minibeasts.
• Hot during the day.• Dry
• Not much water. • Sand
• Not many plants or flowers.
Thursday
Task 4: Choose a minibeast and write a short descriptive text
about what type of habitat you think that minibeast would be
happy to live in.
I think a butterfly would like to live in
a garden where there a lots of
colourful flowers. There would be
bright red roses and big yellow
sunflowers which would attract the
butterflies.
