Can a terrible secretary become the fastest typist in the world? This witty, romantic and very French tribute to the 1950s is packed with humour and takes visual cues from vintage Hollywood glamour.

A finely crafted first feature from Régis Roinsard.

When Shun Li, a Chinese immigrant gets together with Slavic fisherman Bepi, a wave of prejudice grips the small Italian town of Chioggia.

Directed by Andre Segre, this award-winning film is a truly poignant account of the destructive power of prejudice and friendship.

Young Love, Old Shakespeare, Brilliant Cinema.

Joss Whedon delivers a thoroughly contemporary version of this original Shakespearian rom-com. Widely acclaimed, it’s the first great Bard of Avon movie since Baz Luhrmann was let loose on Romeo & Juliet. Much Ado is vintage Will with wit and wisdom.

Turkish film Kuma tells the troubled stories of Ayse and Fatma, two women of differing backgrounds who have wedded the same stately Viennese patriarch.

When illness strikes, friendship develops between the two women. Directed by Umat Dag, this film has captivated audiences on the international film festival circuit.

Actor-Director Sarah Polley’s first feature documentary is a beautifully-structured investigation into the history of her own family - in particular her mother, who died when Polley was eleven.

Layering interviews with family and friends alongside archive footage and her father’s witty, revealing memoir, Polley builds up an enthralling collage of fact, hearsay and memory.

When a foreign exchange student arrives in a small upstate New York town, she challenges the dynamics of her host family’s relationships and alters their lives forever.

Breathe In is a powerful award-winning drama directed by young US director Drake Doremus; starring Guy Pearce, Felicity Jones and Amy Ryan.

An award-winning tale of friendship and humanity, Come as You Are is based on a true story of three disabled men who embark on a trip to Spain in order to lose their virginity at a “specialist” brothel. Director Geoffrey Enthoven leaves the crass gags behind and, according to Total Film, ‘treats his characters as people with empathy and good-natured humour’.

Based on real life events, director Baltasar Kormákur’s account of an Icelandic fishing tragedy relates the story of Gulli, a man caught up in an extraordinary situation. How was he the only crew-member to survive the near-freezing Atlantic waters? Through recounting the fisherman’s simple actions, The Deep becomes a moving chronicle of the human spirit.

Frances Ha is Noah Baumbach’s brilliantly realised tale of an unsettled New York heroine negotiating clingy friendships, identity crises and a stuck-in-idle lifestyle.

Baumbach’s facility for poignant comedy is seen to full effect, as is lead actress Greta Gerwig’s screwball timing. It’s a movie that thinks and laughs. New York Cinema at its best!
