Nathaniel Tennant- Freshman English & Journalism One large project is wrapping up, while another is just beginning for Nathaniel Tennant. This week his Journalism class is publishing the first edition of the Laker Log student newspaper for the school year. The same class will also begin producing scrolling announcements on the TVs in the hallways at the high school, in addition to taping the student announcements for viewing on the ILHS website every school day. Meantime, practices are now officially underway for the high school Girls Basketball Team, which Tennant is coaching. As a graduate of West Liberty Schools, Mr. Tennant earned his degrees in Journalism and Public Relations from Malone University. He later earned his teaching degree from Urbana University and masters from Wright State. He is currently in his 14th year of teaching. Over the years, he has taught at the middle school and high school level. He feels good in his role as instructor to freshman performing analysis of literature and upperclassmen looking at many facets of news gathering and writing styles. He also serves as a Freshman Class advisor and has coached many sports over the years. Nathaniel and his wife, Dianna, have a young son and daughter. They make their home in the Botkins area. Away from school, Tennant is active in his church, teaching college-age Sunday School classes. He loves to read and take part in activities with his children. Nathaniel is a “Transformers” and “Star Wars” fanatic who eagerly awaits the release of “The Last Jedi” in December. Recently, Tennant discovered this quote from John Taylor Gatto and is making it his classroom motto: “The educated mind is connected to itself. Knowing yourself is the foundation for everything else. To do that, you must examine every influence which became a part of you.” Indian Lake Local Schools Monday Morning Staff Meeting November 6, 2017
