(PSA)

PUBLIC SPEAKING:

Four age divisions: (age before 1/1/2020) Clover Kids (5-7) Junior (8-10)

Intermediate (11-13) Senior (14-18)

Length of speeches: Clover Kids - Under 3 minutes

(can be a poem, story, or something original) Junior - 1 to 3 minutes

Intermediate - 3 to 5 minutes

Senior - 5 to 8 minutes

Speeches must be original and include 4-H as

the major component. (EXCEPTION: Clover Kids)

Use of visual aids and props are not allowed.

Dress appropriately

No outlines are required!

Registrations are due by Monday, April 20.

***Youth must be currently enrolled in 4-H to participate in the Dawes County Public Speaking Contest***

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Length of PSA’s: 60 seconds

PSA’s must be original and follow a theme.

For 2020, the theme is “Inspire Kids to Do”

All PSA’s must promote 4-H and be general enough

to be used anywhere in Nebraska at any time of the

year.

All 4-H PSA’s must include the following tag line

within the last 10 seconds: ““Learn more about

Nebraska Extension 4-H Youth Development

Program at 4h.unl.edu.”

Sound effects and public domain music may be

used. Copyrighted material may not be used.

PSA’s must be saved as .wav or .mp3.

No outlines are required!

Registration and recordings are due by Monday,

April 20 as they are pre-judged!

PSA’s may be recorded on your home

computer or by making arrangements with

The top 5 contestants in only the intermediate

and senior age division, both Speech and PSA,

receiving a purple, may advance to State Con-

test on June 24. *There won’t be a Regional

competition*
