Aged Care Nursing Scholarships: Undergraduate Aged Care Nursing Scholarships: Undergraduate is funded by the Australian Government as represented by the Department of Health and Ageing and administered by the Australian College of Nursing (ACN). Aged Care Nursing Scholarships: Undergraduate is an Australian Government initiative supporting student nurses who show a demonstrated commitment to aged care to undertake undergraduate studies at an Australian tertiary institute leading to a qualification to practice as a registered nurse. Diploma of Nursing studies are not eligible for an undergraduate scholarship. Please see the NAHSSS: Undergraduate scholarship if you are commencing or continuing Diploma of Nursing studies. Under this scheme there are places set aside for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Value of a scholarship - The scheme provides financial assistance in the form of a scholarship worth up to a total of $10,000 per year for three years full time study ($30,000 in total), or $5,000 per year for up to six years part time study ($30,000). Funding will not be available for courses studied outside Australia. These scholarships are not bonded. Eligibility criteria To be eligible to apply for an undergraduate scholarship applicants must:

Allied Health Scholarship and Support Scheme (NAHSSS) Undergraduate (Entry – Level) Scholarship

Rural Allied Health Scholarships are offered to students from a rural background undertaking "entry level" studies in allied health (leading to a degree that qualifies the student to practice. Up to 50 NSW Rural Allied Health Scholarships, valued up to $10,000, are offered each year.

Requirements

To be eligible for a scholarship you must:

1. Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident and a resident of NSW. 2. Have resided in a rural or remote area in NSW for a minimum of five consecutive or eight cumulative years

since the age of five and whose immediate family currently resides in a rural or remote area of NSW. 3. Be enrolled, intending to enrol or have applied to enrol as a full-time or part-time student in an

accredited/approved Australian undergraduate or entry - level allied health course in the following Undergraduate disciplines:

o Aboriginal / Indigenous Health o Audiology o Diagnostic Radiography o Dietetics o Exercise Physiology o Genetic Counselling o Hospital Laboratory Science o Nuclear Medicine o Occupational Therapy o Optometry o Oral Health (excl Dentistry)

5. Demonstrate a strong interest in rural community through participation in local community organisations, groups or volunteer work.

Financial need (No asset test will apply, but eligibility for this scholarship does include predetermined maximum limits for assessable income, above which the applicant will become ineligible for the scholarship. Income limits are reviewed before each funding round and will not be made public).

What is expected? Scholarship recipients are expected to:

• Complete at least one university elective / placement or vacation placement in a rural or remote community for experience of rural practice and lifestyle

• Join a University Rural Health Club and/or association relevant to their future profession. • Encouraged to enrol in any course that may assist you in understanding the nature of rural practice.

Up to 50 teach.Rural scholarships are available.

As a scholar you will receive: a $6,000 annual training allowance while studying full time; guaranteed permanent employment in a rural or remote NSW public school; $5,000 to assist with expenses such as relocation costs. Other benefits:

• Beginning teachers in NSW public schools enjoy one of the highest commencing salaries of any profession. In 2017, four-year trained teachers start on a salary of $65, 608 plus superannuation.

• Teachers in some rural and remote NSW public schools, including high-demand locations, receive additional financial benefits such as relocation subsidies and generous rental subsidies.

Eligible applicants need to:

1. be an Australian citizen or permanent resident

2. be completing the HSC in a NSW or ACT secondary school or TAFE NSW institute in 2019

3. intend on enrolling in teacher education studies at a recognised Australian university or

employment as a primary or secondary school teacher
