Mom Mom, you held my hand for a short while but
you will hold my heart forever. God sent you to me
as a special gift from above to teach me life lessons
and shower me with love. Mom you were the best and
if I had a thousand life times, it would not be enough time
to give back what you have given me. You are the love of
my life, my true friend. Gone but never forgotten.
With all my love,
Mond
A Letter To Grandmother
Dearest Grandmother,
I don’t have to ask you how you are
doing as I usually do; for I know today for sure.
I’ve often said I’m sorry for the sadness and
disappointments I’ve caused you, but today there is
no sadness, no more disappointments. You loved me so
unconditionally from the day I was born, your first
grandson...and boy were you and granddad proud!
Continue your rest grandmother, for I love you,
but God loved you best.
Your Loving Grandson,
Omar
Obituary
Min. Frinco Lucille Scurlock Reaves was born the daughter of the late Francis Scurlock and Channie Taylor Scurlock. No one knew the words that God spoke to her on Tuesday morning, April 23, 2019, but she knew the voice that she should obey. Very quietly, she peacefully slipped away.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Nathaniel Reaves on May 20, 1950. To this union, one child was born, Nathan Reaves.
Chatham County School System provided her educational background and Alston Chapel United Holy Church provided her spiritual foundation. She served in many capacities at Alston Chapel Church with excitement and vigor. She also served as Mother of Sanford's Sub-District of Western NC District.
In the early years of her life, she had her own custodial business and day care center. She later worked as a CNA for several companies until she fell and was injured and had to retire, but she never stopped working. She was a dedicated and hard worker. She had a deep bond with all her brothers and sisters, a bond that was unbreakable.
“Mother Frinco” as she was so affectionately called never met a stranger. Matthew 20:27-28 " And whosoever will be chief among you let him be your servant. Even the son of man came not to be ministered unto but to minister and give his life a ransom for many." One other sayings was, " If I can help someone as I pass along; then my living shall not be in vain." She loved to serve people no matter what race creed or color. She had a servant mentality. She truly loved everyone especially children.
In the community where she lived she was a banker, doctor, lawyer, dentist, counselor and prayer warrior. She wore many hats. If you were sick and needed something she was going to make sure she paid you a visit.
Her motto was "If a task is once begun never leave it til it's done be thou labor great or small do it well or not at all." She lived a life of purpose and passion. She wanted to die all used up with no regrets. She would say I am too blessed to be depressed and always put others before herself. She always wore a big contagious smile and if you knew her you would have to love her.
A virtuous woman her faith and trust in God her devotion and love for family was always number one in her life.
She will be remembered and cherished by her husband, Nathaniel Reaves; her son, Nathan Reaves and Pam the daughter she always wanted; two grandsons, Lamar Reaves and Omar Reaves the love of her life and a host of nieces: nephews, step children and many other
relatives and friends.
