APLLM (Advanced Physical Layer Lifecycle Management) is Molex Premise

Network’s revolutionary suite of solutions providing enterprises with the ability to

MIIM™

MIIM is a comprehensive solution focusing on enhancing network management

at the physical layer, network security, asset management, increased productivity

and visibility. In addition to MAC & work order management, the solution detects

network device connect/disconnects regardless of power or broken cables and Smart

polling provides constant information on all network devices connected to work area

outlets. Compelling MIIM differentiators include true centralised management of

the channel beyond the wire closet out to remote work areas regardless of LAN

topology, guided patching impervious to human error and collection/reporting/

alarming of real time Layer 1 data, registering minimal impact on network

resources.

INSIGHT

INSIGHT is an on-line deployment system for the planning and management of

infrastructures and their connected assets. Consisting of 3 core modules; Project

Control, Connectivity Management and MAC Management, INSIGHT increases

visibility, control, automation and collaboration for the management of any

infrastructure to specifi ed stakeholder groups. Some core features include best

practice libraries, customised work fl ows, multi-user permissions and partitioning,

A

Advanced Physical Layer ManagementMIIMTM

MIIM ScannerMIIM scanners monitor activity on a MIIM enabled system. Each 1U scanner can be connected to up to 48 patch panels providing monitoring of up to 576 separate physical channels. Standard RJ45 patch cords are used as the data bus connection between scanners and patch panels.

MIIM scanners can be configured and activated independently of the software. When the MIIM application software is connected to the scanner, it “discovers” active hardware and devices on the network and uploads this information onto the MIIM application software. Scanners monitor the connection state of MIIM channels and pass state change data to the MIIM application software. This triggers MIIM’s smart polling function which queries the specific outlet and updates the software.

MIIM Category 6 UTP Patch PanelMIIM Patch Panels are used within the MIIM System. Each 1U 24 Port Patch Panel has one data bus connection port located on the rear of the panel.

The data bus connection port connects the panel to the MIIM scanner via a standard RJ45 patch cord. The patch panel is able to detect connectivity at both the patch panel and work area outlet. Two in-built power status indicators on the panel ensure visibility of power from the scanner.

The MIIM™ solution provides the most comprehensive Physical Layer Management. MIIM 24 Port Duplex LC Fibre PanelMIIM Fibre Optic enclosures are used within the MIIM System. The adapter interface is 24 duplex LC adapters. Each 1U 24 Port enclosure has one data bus connection port located on the rear of the panel that connects the panel to a MIIM scanner via a standard RJ45 patch cord. Two in-built power status indicators on the panel ensure visibility of power from the scanner. When connected to a MIIM scanner, the panels detect connection activity on each duplex LC port. The patch panel works as a conventional patch panel when not connected to the MIIM system

MIIM Outlet TerminatorThe MIIM Outlet Terminator is used at the work area outlet to allow the MIIM system to monitor the connection of the horizontal cable to the work area outlet. The MIIM Outlet Terminator is effectively a stuffer cap with in-built components that work exclusively in the Molex MIIM solution. It enables the MIIM system to determine circuit integrity to the work area outlet. Communications between the MIIM Outlet Terminator and the MIIM Scanner are transparent to the data channel and operate outside the Ethernet bandwidth. The MIIM system can function independently of the MIIM outlet terminator. However, the terminator provides enhanced functionality in terms of monitoring spare or unused channels.

Advanced Physical Layer ManagementMIIMTM

MIIM Application SoftwareMIIM Application Software is a client server based Software program and is the central data manager for the MIIM System. It manages OSI Layer 1 assets and provides instantaneous information to the IT Manager regarding connectivity on MIIM enabled channels. The software documents planned and unplanned changes to the network. It allows continuous monitoring of the complete physical channel from work area outlet to the active network device. It automatically monitors all connections/disconnections, updates all MACs to the database, identifies and confirms port availability and notifies the IT Manager of all unscheduled or unauthorised network changes. Smart polling gathers device information attached to outlets and is triggered by updates to the scanner. The software allows global network access and cost effective network management.

MIIM Fibre Patch CordsMIIM™ Fibre Optic patch cords are used to connect MIIM fibre panels within the MIIM System. MIIM patch cords incorporate a monitoring cable along with contact points on the patch cord connectors that activate the detection mechanism in the MIIM patch panel. PowerCat 6A DataGate™ Shielded JackThe DataGate Jack is the cornerstone of the Molex Premise Networks PowerCat C6A System performance. The product offers superior alien crosstalk supression, excellent insertion loss and enhanced electromagnetic interferance (EMI). Protection is provided by utilising a robust die-cast zinc alloy connector body housing.

This shielded jack features a unique spring-loaded shutter that not only protects it from dust and contaminants, but the ingenious spring-loaded design also ejects improperly seated patch cords. The product is dual colour coded for either 568A or 568B wiring schedules and is backwards compatible with Shielded C6 and C5e systems.

The product offers superior alien crosstalk supression, excellent insertion loss and enhanced electromagnetic interferance (EMI).
