    Barbie doll is known for always changing her

    appearance. She has adopted numerous headmolds in the last 49 years. From her creation in

    1959 through 1966, she used one basic head mold (altered

    for the Fashion Queen and Miss Barbie dolls). From 1967through 1976 she used four different head molds (the 1959

    original used for the Montgomery Ward doll, Twist N

    Turn, Stacey, and Steffie dolls). Many new head molds havedebuted since 1977, offering more variety and ethnic diver-sity. Shown below are the different head molds used by Bar-

    bie doll that are found in this book.

    wears a brown buckskin costume with fringe anda headband. Her storybook reveals that Baby BlueFeather, her cousin, was named for the blue feather

    left behind by an injured bird that Barbie doll as-sisted. This baby was first used with the 1985 TheHeart Family New Arrival Set. $28.00.

    American Stories 1997 American Indian Barbie#17313 uses the Teresa head mold. She wears a tur-quoise dress with moccasins and a headband, andher storybook reveals that Barbie doll is known toher tribe as Running Springs, and her baby sisteris Little Cloud. In the storybook, Running Springsand Little Cloud go on a picnic and observe all the

    animals. Little Cloud uses thehead mold first used with

    the babies packaged with1994s Babysitter Skip-per. Note that the boxfronts on this seriesnow say, AmericanStories Series insteadof American StoriesCollection. $30.00.

    American Stories 1997 Patriot Barbie#17312wears a colonial soldierinspiredoutfit which, according to her storybook,Barbie doll wears in December 1776in Philadelphia as she rings her minia-

    ture Liberty Bell while selling tickets toan Independence Hall fundraiser ball to
