MNPC conference call. Jan. 15, 2013

UpdatesNewsletter successfully sent and posted. Thanks to all. David mentioned thatreimbursement to Dennis for printing newsletter has been submitted to foundation. Sidsubmitted receipts for mailing costs as well. David will process when he returns to theoffice.

NPS confirmed we will have a new cleanup project on Feb. 15. Southeast of Baker.Starts 9:00am. Hoping to get people on the desert community on their way toShoshone for meeting.

MDLT joint restoration project with our group looks positive. No dates or project yet, but

talks are proceeding.

Spring Star PartyThree dates proposed by astronomers. Davis has dates and will forward to the board.Working with NPS to confirm. Chemeheuvi might be interested in doing a bird songevent jointly. MNPC could also sponsor separately if we can't find an acceptable jointdate.

Providence Mtns. CampaignDavid had conversation with state park directorate and they committed to letting usknow what actions they plan to take. State has no pressure to act either way from thepublic. Park superintendent committed to having staff capture public comments. NPSnationally supports effort by MNPC, but regionally there is little support given otherpriorities. David hopes to create pressure by getting county resolution passes. Bensuggests we create a website and an online petition to attract public interest in theissue. David will discuss with Michael how to accomplish. David suggested that he orSid bring up the issue at the Sierra Club desert meeting and maybe circulate a petition.Dennis suggested that the NPS pursue an artist that might be interested in doing ashow at Kelso Depot on the caverns. Linda will contact a photographer in Victorville.
