“MOJÁCAR INFORMA” Nº 4, October-November 2012 Now that summer is over, it is time to analize certain issues in order not to repeat them next year, although Mojacar·s local government is an expert at ignoring people·s claims neither using common sense, nor logic, keeping on making the same mistakes year after year to the detriment of residents and visitors. Dear neighbours: Another year on and the “BOTELLON” (boozing in public areas) invaded the beach, and again local Government in forseeing measures, was not able to sort out the problem on time. They admitted to being overwhelmed by this phenomena which gets more unruly each year, like every year from our council, we put pressure in order to find a solution, because so many people together without any security measures means a danger to everyone. Finally, the Mayoress reacted to this and in desperation took measures, which were excessive and legally dubious. She set up, not only on affected areas, but all over the beach and roads a massive police operation (with extra policemen fron other cities) and ordered them to fine anyone who would walk around with shopping bags, searching for booze and confiscating them. Their indiscriminate actions, provoked a reaction among the tourists saying the same phrase “THIS IS A HOLD UP!!”. We understand the local police are obeying orders, but it is a shame when they are not able to use their own judgement in order to differentiate between drunks, normal shoppers and passers by because they are unmistakeable!.The result of this policing operation could not have been worse, everyone left Mojacar for good. Everyone paid the price! Dear neighbours: We cannot approve of private businesses like beach bars, which want to be discoes, invade the beach and fence the public areas watched by 2 gorillas (bouncers), threatening people passing by. It is the administration responsibility to ban such things and allow public access to public areas, unless there are some dodgy dealings with these bars, because its rather curious that they are the ones allowing mega-raves without being sanctioned…Enough said…. Dear neighbours: This year, the programme for the local fiestas in the village, displayed more than 60 full colour pages in a glossy book, which didn’t show any publicity as it is normally used to pay for the costs of printing. Therefore, we assume it has been paid entirely with public money.THAT IS WRONG!! because the contents look like an electoral political programme From the PP , rather than a festivities programme. Neither the Mayoress, nor the councillors for local events gave a coherent answer to us at the last Plenary Sesion. How much will this electoral PP programme have cost to the locals??. Dear neighbours: Here is a new example of squandering money. In December 2005 some people from Mojacar went for a stroll. One of them tripped on a hole and broke his fibula bone, then, they made a claim against the Town Hall for the bad state of the pavement and they were answered with indifference. “MOJÁCAR INFORMA”Nº 4, October-November 2012

Now that summer is over, it is time to analize certain issues in order not to repeat them next year, although Mojacar·s local government is an expert at ignoring people·s claims neither using common sense, nor logic, keeping on making the same mistakes year after year to the detriment of residents and visitors.

NEWS IN BRIEF

The local Government team, in a heroic gesture agreed to renounce their extra Christmas payment..Very easily done when their annual salary has been raised by 9 to 42% at the beginning of their mandate!

PSOE presented a motion to the Town Hall asking to advance the civil servants extra salaries from June and Christmas 2013 to January and june 2013 in order to compensate the lack of Christmas wages in 2012 supporting us on similar decision by other villages. The Mayoress did not accept it at the plenary meeting and voted against including it under emergencies in the order of the day. We hope she reconsiders and thinks about the workers whose earning power in such important dates its disadvantaged by the many cuts by the one in charge.

The lack of transparency by the Town hall is shown constantly. We don’t have access to all information requested repeatedly. Under vigilance, we are studying the invoices from suppliers which can be classified as fraudulent according to the Bill 3/2011 regarding public sector contracts article 60 which bans the purchase of materials from politicians families. In relation to this possible crime we are studying the following invoices:

Ferretería La Collera, Diego García Councillor's “Family”:

Carpintería Metálica K3, María Luisa Pérez Councillor's family:

After spending 2mill.euros on the car park, included the extra bill of 132.000euros that PP wanted to pay for finding a harder than usual rock, we have demanded that the Mayoress abide by the contract with de builder and apply penalties for the delays on the works done by the company. They must discount the price by no less no more than 246.000euros (the job should have been finished by 21st of May). Her answer was NO! A very suspicious attitude. Besides, on the first rains it got flooded!!, another bad job done!.

The first heavy rains came at the end of August, and the beaches took a long time to be cleaned as the Mayoress decided that it was the end of the tourist season and so she confirmed to the Press. On the other hand, there was no emergency plan, no was a complaints office created. Same problems, as always, particularly the access to La Paratá.

On 24/11/2011 PSOE presented a moton asking for a reduction in IBI tax by 20% .The popular Party (PP) not only voted against it, but they carry on raising it, as well as the land registry valuation.

Compared to the neighbouring towns, we are paying double, it’s the most expensive IBI in the whole of ANDALUCIA!!!
