One of the rare occasion when ‘ History is written by the victors’ did not apply! But they did have some considerable achievements. Which do you think was the most important one? Abdullah thought that: … the most important achievement was the conquering of south-east Asia. No one before had completed such a task and it made the Mongols know worldwide. The reason I chose this achievement is because if the Mongols hadn’t conquered south-east Asia, then the world today will be much different. Genghis Khan spread the use of the abacus, one of the earliest ways of calculating in mathematics and still used today. Also if they didn’t conquer south- east Asia, they wouldn’t be the biggest empire ever built. Isabel thought that : …..there most amazing achievement was in A.D 1211 when Genghis Khan wasn’t happy just ruling his fellow Mongolians. So He made an army of Mongolians set out conquering other steppe nomads, by starting small they became more and more powerful. Then eventually they conquered all of China Now that they were huge they attacked Most of Russia and won! They had Islam and lots of the Slavic people. This was the most considerable achievement because; they started off small and just grew and grew and grew. This landed them the largest empire off the time. So one leader made himself more powerful by joining tribes to his and, as he started joining the tribes he became more powerful he ended having much more land and people to control. I think they grew so much that I think that the size of the empire would have intimidated Russia and China and other places as well. This probably meant they wouldn’t have to fight as much because they must have intimidated smaller or places that had a weak army because they were so big. I was really surprised that so many of you thought the Empire itself I was really surprised that so many of you thought the Empire itself I was really surprised that so many of you thought the Empire itself I was really surprised that so many of you thought the Empire itself was the greatest achievement, as I had expected people to look an religious was the greatest achievement, as I had expected people to look an religious was the greatest achievement, as I had expected people to look an religious was the greatest achievement, as I had expected people to look an religious rights, the postal service, trade and so on rights, the postal service, trade and so on rights, the postal service, trade and so on rights, the postal service, trade and so on – but on reflection but on reflection but on reflection but on reflection I guess guess guess guess forming the larg forming the larg forming the larg forming the largest ever est ever est ever est ever-known Empire was fairly spectacular known Empire was fairly spectacular known Empire was fairly spectacular known Empire was fairly spectacular – here is here is here is here is what people thought what people thought what people thought what people thought

Also if they didn’t conquer south-east Asia, they wouldn’t be the biggest empire ever built.

Isabel thought that : …..there most amazing achievement was in A.D 1211 when Genghis Khan wasn’t happy just ruling his fellow Mongolians. So He made an army of Mongolians set out conquering other steppe nomads, by starting small

they became more and more powerful. Max thought that: … the Mongols greatest achievement was the mass amount of land they conquered; they conquered 9,700 km, 22% of the world’s total land area. I think that this was their greatest achievement because control over all that land made them a very powerful empire and it provided trading routes, new towns/cities, population growth (which meant more soldiers for their army), and their wealth must have increased by more than half.

And Kane said: Personally I think it was the unification of all the bickering tribes. When the Mongols assimilated them into their culture, this in turn made them to get along. If you have been taken over by another empire, previous grievances do not apply and all that matters is your “overlords” enemies. When the Mongol empire inevitable crumbled it change and reformed into larger city states, incorporating more people and this in time made them lose

their tribal identity therefore banishing any quarrels they had.

Then Luke said: By the late A.D. 1200s the Mongols had conquered more territory than any other nation in history, either prior to that time, or since. The Mongol Empire stretched almost from sea to sea on the largest continent on Earth. I think this is most important because they were the first to have ruled most territories than any other empire at that time. They took over china they caused a lot of wars. Also they were one of the largest empires ever and grew over 100 millon people on it.

Finally Zaineb said: There were over 30 million deaths and china’s population fell by half in only 50 years but they won in the end and this was because of the discipline. I think this empire is very interesting and I really love learning about them.

Their empire linked Europe & Asia. They encouraged travel into Asia so European merchants, craftsmen and envoys could journey as far as China. Goods were transported along caravan trails between Asia and Europe. So trade grew between the Nations. They encouraged international trade, between countries, by introducing paper money and building roads.
