Moe Williams Would Be a Huge Pickup for the Miami Heat

Moe Williams Would Be A Huge Pickup for the Miami Heat Recent reports have indicated that the Miami Heat are interested in trading for Mo Williams, with the Minnesota Timberwolves only interested in receiving draft picks for the 11-year point guard. The Heat would most likely have to get a third team involved in order to make this trade occur, with the likelihood of Norris Cole being the most valuable trade chip in the equation. If the Heat are able to get this deal done, they absolutely have to if they want to save this season. The current point guard situation in Miami is bleak at best. All three point guards on the Heat’s roster: Norris Cole, Mario Chalmers, and Shabazz Napier have been atrocious this season, and yet, Pat Riley and the rest of the Heat organization have done nothing to address this issue. Signing a player like Mo Williams would automatically make the point guard rotation in Miami significantly better. From a production standpoint, Williams this season is averaging 12.5 points, 6.5 assists, and 2.3 rebounds on top of shooting 40% from the field and 38% from beyond the arc. None of the Heat’s point guards are anywhere close to these numbers, and that’s with both Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole averaging close to the same amount of minutes as Williams. Guard depth has been a major issue for the Heat this season, and that was before Wade went out with a severe hamstring injury that could last several weeks. Williams is capable of handling an offense, as exhibited by his 50-point game against the Indiana Pacers. If this becomes a realistic trade option for the Heat, the organization has to pull the trigger.
