right subphrenic space (RSP) extends from the falciform ligament (F) laterally between the abdominal wall and the liver. RSP communicates with the right pericolic gutter (RC) and the right subhepatic space (RS). The right pericolic gutter is open to the right side of the pelvis (RP). The left subphrenic space (LSP) communicates with the left subhepatic space (lsh). The phrenicolic ligament (PCL) limits inferior flow from these spaces. The left pericolic gutter (LC) extends inferiorly into the left side of the pelvis (LP). Focus on the right suprahepatic space (RS) and find the arrow. This arrow marks the lesser omentum, which is immediately adjacent to the pancreas (P). The superior margin of the lesser omentum is bordered by the gastrohepatic ligament (gh). The mesentery (M) is noted in the midline and contains the mesenteric vessels.
