DANGERBulbs can burst causing serious injury to the eyes. Always wear safety glasses when changing the

lamp or servicing the unit. Do not apply power to the device without lenses in place.

It is important to follow all instructions shipped with this product. This device is to be installed by a trained electrician who is thoroughly familiar with the National Electrical Code or the Canadian Electrical Code and will follow the NEC or CEC Guidelines as well as local codes.This device may be considered a part of the signaling system and not the entire signaling system.The selection of the mounting location for the device, its controls and the routing of the wiring is to be accomplished under the direction of the facilities engineer. In addition, listed below are some oth-er important safety instructions and precautions you should follow:

• Readandunderstandallinstructionsbeforeinstallingoroperatingthisequipment.• Donotconnectthislighttothesystemwhenpowerison.• Afterinstallation,ensurethatallscrewsandthreadedjointsareproperlytightened.• Afterinstallation,testthelightsystemtoensurethatitisoperatingproperly.• Aftertestingiscomplete,provideacopyofthisinstructionsheettoalloperatingpersonnel.• Establishaproceduretoroutinelycheckthelightinstallationforintegrityandproperoperation.

I. INSTALLATION.

A. Unpacking. Afterunpackingtheequipment,examineitfordamagethatmayhaveoccurredintransit.Ifthe

equipmenthasbeendamaged,donotattempttoinstalloroperateit.Fileaclaimimmediatelywiththecarrierstatingtheextentofthedamage.Carefullycheckallenvelopes,shippinglabelsand tags before removing or destroying them.

B. Mounting.

1a. Pipe Mounting.The Model LSB base is designed for installation on 3/4" NPT pipe. It may be installed on machines, control boards, or any installation wherepipemounting is required. If 1/2" pipe is used, a user-sup-pliedreducerisrequired.Mounting hardware and installation details are left to the installer. After the base is installed, the light modules are assembled on the base.Atleastone,anduptofivelightmodulesmaybeassembledonthebaseinanyse-quence(determinedbytheuser).RefertotheinstructionsheetforinformationonhowtoassembletheSoundmodule(ModelsLSS-024andLSS-120).

CAUTIONTo avoid damaging the light modules, it is recommended that wiring be performed before

assembling the light modules on the base.

1b. Integral Surface Mounting.The Model LSB is also designed for surface mounting installations on machines, cabinets, control boards or any installation where a rigid flat surface isavailable. The LSB is four inches high and contains the wiring, in-terconnectsandtheflasher(120VACunitonly).TheLSBhasfourflashedoverholesandincludesfoursheetmetalscrews.Install the Model LSB as follows:a. Removethebasetopwiring.b. Drillthelargeclearanceholeusinga1" hole saw. c. Place thebaseontoaflatsectionandalign thewireexithole

withthe1”drilledhole.d. Drive the supplied sheet metal screws through the recessed holed in the bottom of the

base.e. Replacethebasetopandwiring.

2. Reduced Profile Surface Mounting.ThemodelLSBS is designed for reducedprofile surfacemounts.Using theLSBSgivestheinstallerthesamemountconfigurationastheLSB,butisonly1/4inchinheight.Allofthe wiring and interconnects when using LSBS will reside below the surface in the users’ enclosure.TheLSBSincludes:aMountingGasket,abaseMountingRingand four screws, a base Top with wires, and a Cap Kit with riv-ets.Install the Model LSBS as follows:a. Place thegasketontoaflatsectionof thesurfaceat thede-

vice’s intended location. b. Markthefourmountingholesandthecenterclearancehole.c. Usingthegasketasaguide,drillthefourmountingholesus-

ing a#24drill. In the centerof the4holepattern, drill thelargeclearanceholeusinga2-1/2" hole saw.

d. Locatethegasketonthesurfaceandplacethemountingringwiththebasetopandwir-inginplaceonthegasket.Securetheunitwiththesupplied#8self-tappingscrews.

CAUTIONExcessivetorqueonthemountingscrewsmaycrackthebaseMountingRing.

Do not over tighten the screws.

After the base is installed, the light modules are assembled on the base. At least one, and up to fivelightmodulesmaybeassembledonthebaseinanysequence(determinedbytheuser).

CAUTIONTo avoid damaging the light modules, it is recommended that wiring be performed

before assembling the light modules on the base.

D. Electrical Connections.The Light and Sound modules are plug-in units completely wired at the factory and do not requireanywiring.Theindividuallightmodulesarecontrolledbythewhitewireinthebase(ModelLSB)withastripethesamecolorasthecontrolledLightmodule’slens.TheSoundmoduleiscontrolledbythewhite/blackwireinthebase.Seetable1.Sincethewhite/blackwire also provides control to the Clear Light module, a Clear Light module cannot be installed in a LITESTAK™ which contains a Sound module. The control wire for the Sound module and eachLightmodulemustbeconnectedtoacontroldevice.Seefigure1.ControlswitchratingmustbecapableofhandlingthepowerrequirementsshowninparagraphI.C.above.WheninstallingtheLSB-120thecontrolwire(s)maybeconnectedforanycombinationofsteadyburningorflashinglights.

WARNINGToavoidelectricalshockhazards,donotconnectwireswhenpowerisapplied.

Thebaseissuppliedwith24”wires(18GA)forconnectiontothepowersourceandswitches.Usefigure1andtable1asaguideandcompletethewiringasrequired.Terminateallunusedwires with user-supplied wire nuts.

CAUTIONDamage to the voltage reducer or wiring may occur if the base top is lifted more than

approximatelyfour-inchesfromthebase.

Ifdesired,theLSBbasemaybeusedasajunctionbox.Removeandretainthefourscrewswhichsecurethebasetoptothebase.Liftthebasetopapproximatelyfour-inches.Routethenecessarywiresintothebase,andusefigure1andtable1asaguidetocompletethewiring.Terminate all unused wires with user-supplied wire nuts. After the wiring is completed, replace the base top and secure with the previously removed screws.

E. Light module Installation.Afterthewiringiscompleted,thelightmodulesareassembledtothebaseinthesequencedetermined by the user. To install the light modules, proceed as follows:

1. GetthefirstLightmoduleandobservetheorientationofthetwo3-pinconnectors.Also,ob-serve the orientation of the mating connectors in the base top. Position the Light module on top of the base with the male and female connectors properly oriented. Align the connectors, and press the Light module until it snaps into place.

2. Seefigure2.TherearefourholesneartheedgesoftheLightmodule’sclearbottomplatewhichalignwithholesinthebasetop.Tolocktheunitstogether,installasnaprivet(sup-pliedwithlens)ineachhole.Presstheheadofeachrivetuntilitsnapsinplace.

3. Assembleallremaininglightmodules(ifany)ontopofthefirstLightmoduleasdescribedinsteps1and2above.

NOTEThesnaprivetsmaybepriedoutwithaflatbladescrewdriver.

4.Removeandretainthefourplasticpinsonthecap(suppliedwiththebase).Installthecapon the top Light module by aligning the two split pins on the cap with the snap rivet holes intheLightmodule’stopplate.Pressdownonthecapuntilitsnapsinplace.Seefigure2.Lockthecapinplacebypressingapreviouslyremovedplasticpininthecenterofeachofthe cap’s split pins.

NOTEEnsure the proper color lenses are installed on each Light module. A label with the Light module’s

model number is on it’s clear bottom plate.

5. Positionalenshalfonthewidelyspacedpins.Pushthelensovertheslantedpinsuntilthelenssnapsinplace.Repeatwiththeotherlenshalf.

6. TesttheLITESTAK™toensurethatitoperatesasintended.

F. Sound module Installation.

RefertotheinstructionsheetfortheSoundmodule(ModelsLSS-024andLSS-120)forinstal-lation information. The sound module must be the top module on the LITESTAK™.

To change the lamps, proceed as follows:A. Turn the power off.B. Insertthebladeofaflatbladescrewdriverintotheslotwherethelenshalvesmeet.Pry

toward the light module’s center until the lens is released from the pins, and remove the lens.C.Pushthelampinandturnitcounterclockwise.Removethelampfromthesocket.D. See replacement parts table in section III for complete list of Federal lamps available. E. Replacethelens.

III. SERVICE.FederalSignalwillserviceyourequipmentorprovidetechnicalassistancewithanyproblemsthat cannot be handled locally.Any units returned to Federal Signal for service, inspection, or repair must be accompanied by a ReturnMaterialAuthorization(R.M.A.).ThisR.M.A.canbeobtainedfromthelocaldistributoror manufacturer’s representative.Atthistimeabriefexplanationoftheservicerequested,orthenatureofthemalfunction,shouldbe provided.

I. INSTALACION.

A. Desempaquetado.Unavezdesembaladoelequipo,compruebequenohasufridodañosduranteelenvío.Siestádefectuoso, no intente instalarlo o ponerlo en marcha. Presente de inmediato una reclamación alacompañíadetransportesdetallandoelalcancedelosdaños.Compruebecondetenimientotodoslossobresylasetiquetasdeenvíoantesderetirarlosodestruirlos.

B. Montaje.

1a. Montaje de las Tuberías.LabasedelModeloLSBestádiseñadaparaserinstaladaenuntuboNPT3/4”.(19mm).Labasepuedemontarseenmáquinas,placasdecontroloencualquierinstalaciónquerequieraelmontajedetuberías.Siseutilizaunatuberíade1/2”,esnecesariouno de los reductores suministrados al usuario.Elmontajedelsoportefísicoylosdetallesdeinstalaciónsonrespon-sabilidaddelinstalador.Unavezinstaladalabase,semontanlosmó-dulosdeluzsobrelabase.Enlabasesepuedenmontardeunoacincomódulosdeluzcolocadosencualquiersecuencia(determinadaporelusuario).Consultelahojadeinstruccionesparaobtenerinformaciónsobreelmontajedelequipodesonido(ModelosLSS-024yLSS-120).

E. Instalación de los Módulos de Luz.Unavezfinalizadoelcableado,seinstalanlosmódulosdeluzsobrelabasesiguiendolase-cuenciadeterminadaporelusuario.Sigalossiguientespasosparainstalarlosmódulosdeluz.1. Cojaelprimermódulodeluzyobservelaorientacióndelosdosconectoresde3pasadores.

Asimismo, observe la orientación de los conectores de acoplamiento de la tapa de la base. Coloqueelmódulodeluzsobrelabaseconlosconectoresmachoyhembra(sumistradosconlalente)enlaposicióncorrecta.Alineelosconectoesypresioneelmódulohastaqueencaje en posición.

2. Véasediagrama6.Hay4agujeroscercadelosextremosdelaplacainferiorclaradelmó-dulodeluzquesealineanconlosagujerosenlatapadelabase.Paraencajarlasunidades,coloqueunremachedepresión(suministradoconlalente)encadaagujero.Presionelacabe-zadelosremacheshastaqueencajenenposición.

3. Instaletodoslosmódulosdeluzrestantes(encasodehaberalguno)sobreelprimermódulodeluztalcomosedescribeenlospasos1y2arriba.

NOTALos remaches de presión pueden retirarse con un destornillador plano.

4. Retireyguardelos4pasadoresdeplásticodelcasquillo(suministradosconlabase).Colo-queelcasquillosobreelmódulodeluzsuperioralineandolosdospasadoreshendidosdelcasqueteconlosagujerosdelosremachesapresiónqueseencuentranenlaplacasuperiordelmódulodeluz.Presioneelcasquetehastaqueencajeenposición.Véaseeldiagrama6.Fijeelcasquillopresionandolospasadoresdeplásticoretiradosanteriormentehaciaelcentrodetodoslospasadoreshendidosdelcasquillo.

NOTACompruebequecadamódulodeluztengainstaladolaslentesdelcolorapropiado.Enlaplacainferiordecolorclaroseencuentraunaetiquetaconelnúmerodemodelodelmódulodeluz.5.Coloquelamitaddeunalentesobrelospasadoresseparadosentresí.Presionelalentehaciaabajohastaqueencajeensulugar.Repitaelprocesoconlaotramitaddelalente.

6.PruebelaunidadLITESTAK™paracerciorarsedequefuncionadeformacorrecta.

F. Instalación del Módulo de Sonido.Consulte la hoja de instrucciones para obtener información sobre la instalación del módulo de sonido(ModelosLSS-024yLSS-120).ElmódulodesonidodebeserelmódulosuperiordelequipoLITESTAK™.

II. INSTALACION DE BOMBILLAS NUEVAS.

PELIGROLasbombillashalógenaspuedenestallarycausarlesionesgravesenlosojos.Debeutilizarsiempre

las gafas de seguridad cuando cambie la bombilla o da mantenimiento a la unidad. No conecte el suministro de electricidad si no lleva las gafas.

Para cambiar las bombillas proceda de la manera siguiente:A.Desconecteelsuministroeléctrico.B. Introduzcaelfilodeldestornilladorplanoenlaranuradondesejuntanlasdosmitadesde

lalente.Hagapalancaenelcentrodelmódulodeluzhastaquesedeprendalalentedelospasadoresyretírela.

C.Empujelabombillahaciadentroygírelaenelsentidocontrarioalasagujasdelreloj.Retirela bombilla de la cuenca.

D.ConsultalatabladepiezasderecambiodelasecciónIIIparaobtenerunalistacompletadelas bombillas Federal disponibles.

E. Cambie la lente.

III. MANTENIMIENTO.FederalSignalrealizaráelmantenimientodesuequipooleproporicionaráasistenciatécnicaparalosproblemasquenopuedansolucionarselocalmente.CualquieraunidaddevueltaaFederalSignalparasumantenimiento,inspecciónoreparacióndebeiracompañadadeunaAutorizacióndeDevolucióndeMaterial(RMA).ElRMApuedeobtenerse del distribuidor local o del representante del fabricante.Enesecaso,debeproporcionarseunaexplicaciónbrevedelserviciorequeridoodelanaturalezadel fallo.

IV. I. INSTALLATION.

A. Déballage.Aprèsdéballagedumatériel,l’examinerpourdétecterdesdommagespouvantavoireulieupendantletransport.Silematérielaétéendommagé,n’essayezpasdel’installeroudel’utiliser.Déposezimmédiatementuneréclamationauprèsdutransporteurenindiquantlesdommages.Vérifiezsoigneusementtouteslesenveloppes,lesétiquettesd’expéditionetlesétiquettesvolantesavantdelesenleveroudelesdétruire.

B. Montage.

1a. Deplus,observezlesensdesconnecteursdecorrespondancedanslehautdelabase.Placezlemoduled’éclairagesurlehautdelabaseaveclesconnecteursmâlesetfemellescorrecte-mentorientés.Alignezlesconnecteursetappuyezsurlemoduled’éclairagejusqu’àcequ’ils’enclenche en place.

2. Voirfigure4.Ilyaquatretrousprèsdesbordsdelaplaquedefondtransparentedumoduled’éclairage,quis’alignentaveclestrousdanslehautdelabase.Pourverrouillerlesunitésensemble,installezunrivetàenclenchement(fourniavecl’écran)danschaquetrou.Ap-puyezsurlatêtedechaquerivetjusqu’àcequ’ils’enclencheenplace.

3. Assembleztouslesmodulesd’éclairagerestants(éventuels)au-dessusdupremiermoduled’éclairagecommedécritdanslesétapes1et2ci-dessus.

4. Retirezetgardezles4brochesplastiquesurlecapuchon(fourniaveclabase).Installezlecapuchonsurlemoduled’éclairagesupérieurenalignantlesdeuxgoupillessurlecapuchonaveclestrousderivetàenclenchementdanslaplaquesupérieuredumoduled’éclairage.Appuyezverslebassurlecapuchonjusqu’àcequ’ils’enclencheenplace.Voirfigure4.
