Model & Drawing Permissions using Workmanager
Sharing Data
Sharing Data in WorkManager allows you to easily:
•Continue with the design of a model someone else has started.
•Create a drawing of someone elses model/assembly.
•Use an existing model/assembly in something you are designing.
•Modify an existing model/assembly to meet your needs.
•Edit an existing drawing of a model/assembly.
Document Permissions
Two components to PERMISSION!
1) State of the model - work, pending check, checked, released
2) Reservation – who has the model reserved
You must have PERMISSION to change the document - machine, use modify 3D, or add a veiwset. Viewsets are added when you create a drawing.
In WorkManager Models and Drawings are called DOCUMENTS
Document States
State of the model, 4 possibilities
1) Work – modeling is currently under way.
2) Pending Check – modeling completed, waiting on supervisor approval.
3) Checked – supervisor or 3rd party checker determines that model meets documentation requirements, is manufactuable, etc.
4) Released – model released for fabrication.
In WorkManager Models and Drawings are called DOCUMENTS
Document States and when change is possible
State of the model, only one state allows you to make changes to the model
1) Work – change is possible
2) Pending Check – change is not possible
3) Checked – change is not possible
4) Released - change is not possible
State = Work, allows for changes
In WorkManager Models and Drawings are called DOCUMENTS
Determining Document State
Determining the State of the document.
State is listed in the Related Documents section of the WorkManager Editor
And…
State listed as “Status” in the Document sections of the WorkManager Editor
State = Work, allows for changes
In WorkManager Models and Drawings are called DOCUMENTS
States other than “Work”
State of the document:
If the state of the document is not “work”, you will not be able to change it.
If the state is “released” you will need to create a new revision.
Otherwise an approver will need to set the state back to “work”.

Reservation
Reservation Information
The document must be in your packet/folder if you are going to make changes to it.
If the document is in your folder you now have it reserved.
WorkManager uses 2 terms interchangeably
Folder = Packet
Packets and Folders are the same thing! More on this in a minute…
In WorkManager Models and Drawings are called DOCUMENTS
Reservation Possibilities
Reservation possibilities
1) You have the document reserved
2) Someone else has the document reserved
3) No one has the document reserved, “floating”
In WorkManager Models and Drawings are called DOCUMENTS
Reservation Possibilities - when is change possible?
Reservation scenarios:
1) You have the document reserved – change is possible
2) Someone else has the document reserved – change is possible IF they un-reserve it and THEN you reserve it
3) No one has the document reserved, “floating” – change is possible IF you reserve it
