10.1 MegapixelCMOS SensorThe EOS Digital Rebel XTi has a large-
area 10.1-megapixel CMOS sensor. This superlative sensor renders image
files suitable for anything from a
snapshot photo all the way to a
poster-sized print, all with stunning
detail. This APS-C size sensor (22.2 x
14.8mm) has the same 3:2 ratio as film cameras, enabling an effective angle of
view that is 1.6x the normal EF Lens focal length and works perfectly with Canon’s
EF-S lenses.
DIGIC II Image ProcessorShot information is analyzed and saved with Canon’s
amazing DIGIC II Image Processor. The DIGIC II Image
Processor ensures accurate color, minimizes digital
“noise,” ensures that each recorded pixel is detailed and
that each image has exceptional clarity and tonal range.
High ISO SpeedWith ISO sensitivity ratings
from 100–1600, the Digital
Rebel XTi’s sensor will work
well in most any shooting situ-
ation, from bright sunlight, to
interiors without flash.
More Pixels, More Performance
To combat against stray dust that enters the camera andadheres to the image sensor during a lens change, theDigital Rebel XTi features an all-new, Canon-designedSelf Cleaning Sensor Unit. The low pass filter and thesensor clean itself automatically with ultrasonic vibrations.Dust that has been missed by the Integrated Self-CleaningSensor System can also be erased with software includedin Digital Photo Professional (DPP) Version 2.2.

9-point AutofocusThe EOS Digital Rebel XTi has a high-preci-
sion 9-point AF system for speedy and
accurate focusing in any situation. Canon’s
cross key buttons are conveniently located
on the back of the camera for thumb-
controlled action, so you can choose
the 9 focus points instantly or direct the camera to choose them automatically.
You can use One-Shot which is perfect for still photography, AI Servo which tracks
moving subjects, ensuring accurate focus instantly, or AI Focus, which switches
between One-Shot and AI Servo for when subjects are starting and stopping. The
Digital Rebel XTi’s focusing system meters ranges of EV-0.5 to 18, and displays
information on the large, newly developed camera setting display on the back of
the camera.
Speedy operationWith a startup time of 0.2 seconds, the EOS Digital Rebel XTi is ready to go the
instant it’s brought to the eye. And the Digital Rebel XTi’s shutter can record
images as fast as 1/4000 sec and as long as 30 seconds,
plus bulb at up to 3 fps for 27 consecutive shots. It
synchronizes with Canon
Speedlites at 1/200 seconds.
Sharp, Fast and Simple
The EOS Digital Rebel XTi’sbright viewfinder is designedto make image compositionsimple and easy. It displaysthe selected AF point, plusshooting information andhas an adjustable diopter tocompensate for glasses ordifferent eyesight.

Perfect Light Control,Wherever, Whenever
35-Zone Evaluative Metering The Digital Rebel XTi’s 535-zone Evaluative Metering system analyzes light,
based on an emphasis of the AF point in use, metering off the subject, wherever it
might be in the composition. 7Center-Weighted Average Metering calculates
the entire composition, yet places emphasis
on the center of the image. With 6PartialMetering, 9% of the image is metered. These
three different metering modes optimize the
metering control for beginners, yet advanced
enough for seasoned photographers.
E-TTL II Flash MeteringCanon’s E-TTL II Flash metering provides optimal flash
exposure that will ensure you get just the right amount of
light for your shot, whether using the Digital Rebel XTi’s
built-in flash, or an EX Series Speedlite. E-TTL weights
and averages the flash metering, capturing the subject
as an area, not as a spot. As a result, the
Digital Rebel XTi can obtain consistent flash
exposures even if the subject contains radical
changes in color reflectivity.

2.5-inch LCDMonitor The EOS Digital Rebel XTi has a brilliant 2.5-inch LCD monitor with approximately
230,000 pixels. This huge new screen not only displays more information, but
unlike the EOS Rebel XT, shooting information and playback both are displayed on
the same screen so that you need only glance at the same screen, whether setting
up or reviewing a picture, to get all pertinent information in one place. Not only
you can see images larger than on the Digital Rebel XT, but also you can see
images at a greater angle (160°), brighter, with bigger text and in finer detail than
on many other conventional LCD monitors.
Enhanced OperabilityThe Digital Rebel XTi features a newly-designed
ergonomic grip, a new non-slip rubber thumb rest to
hold easily for the right hand. And it offers more
operational custom functions than any other camera in
its class. Custom Functions let the photographer think
about the settings before they shoot, enabling quicker
operation, so they can concentrate on the composition
without having to make changes while taking pictures.
When composing images, theDigital Rebel XTi’s externaldisplay turns off automaticallythanks to Canon’s new DisplayOff Sensor. This sensor detectsyour face and darkens the backpanel, preventing the LCD fromdisturbing your eye while looking through the viewfinder.

Picture StyleWith Picture Style technology and the EOS Digital Rebel XTi, you can recreate
characteristics that replicate your favorite photographic film. Color, saturation,
sharpness and contrast settings create notice-
able variation in the saved image. In addition to
six Picture Style settings (Standard, Portrait,Landscape, Neutral, Faithful and Monochrome),
you can create three additional setting combi-
nations for your particular photographic style.
Accurate Color through Perfect White BalanceThe EOS Digital Rebel XTi has a white balance adjustment to ensure that colors
will be spot-on. It features eight different white balance modes for specific lighting
conditions. Where you used to have to change films or attach expensive filters to
the lenses to compensate for light temperature, the Digital Rebel XTi does it all
automatically. Presets for daylight, shade, overcast situations, indoor tungstenand fluorescent light, plus flash, custom and white balance bracketing ensure
accurate whites and colors anytime.

EF LensesThe EOS Digital Rebel XTi is compatible with the entire EOS System of lensesand accessories. Canon’s EF and EF-S lenses are designed by Canon specificallyfor the EOS line, and offer unmatched performance. With over 50 lensesavailable, Canon continues to innovate, introducing new lenses with specialized elements, coatings and built-in, optimized Image Stabilizer technology that raise performance standards across the board.
Image StabilizerCanon Image Stabilizer (IS) technology makes handheld photography morepractical at slow shutter speeds, accommodating more low-light shooting situations than ever before. Canon Image Stabilizer uses miniature sensorsand a microcomputer built into the lens. The sensors analyze vibrations andcancel motion blur, resulting in a sharper image. Canon Image Stabilizer isbuilt into many EF lenses and outperforms in-camera stabilization technologiesby allowing for more movement of the stabilizing lens group. The ImageStabilizer assembly is configured to the performance characteristics of the lens, providing a level of performance that other anti-shake systems cannot match.
SpeedliteCanon’s superlative Speedlite series of flashes are suitablefor most any application, taking advantage of E-TTL II meteringfor varied applications such as close-up work, wireless slave, and much more.
