(About PC cards…)“PC Card” is the name standardized by the “PC CardsStandard”, a U.S.-Japan industry common standard thatwas negotiated between PCMCIA(Personal ComputerMemory Card International Association) andJEIDA(Japan Electronic Industry Development Associa-tion).

In the beginning, PC cards were used as storage media(memory cards) for personal computers, but because ofthe need for additional functionality PC cards began to beused as I/O devices in notebook PCs. Today, PC cardtechnologies have expanded to include Flash memorycards which are used to transfer and store data from

items such as digital cameras, SCSI cards, Modemcards, LAN cards, Audio cards and various combina-tions of each.

PC cards also have expanded to include more func-tionality in a smaller form for use with mobile devices.Panasonic can satisfy the demands of next genera-tion mobile devices with our large capacity, highspeed and high performance line-up of small PC

(Overview…)ATA Flash cardsATA flash cards use Flash memory as the memorymedia and are a recognized PC Card standard byPCMCIA/JEIDA. Because of the ATA format, a hard diskinterface for PC-AT type computers, ATA cards useexisting IDE/ESDI hard disk controller drivers allowing foreasy MS Windows compatibility and making them usefulfor data transfer from items such as digital cameras.Because the product does not have any mechanicallymoving parts like a hard disk, it is highly resistant tovibration or shock and provides high-speed access withlow power consumption.

SRAM cardsSRAM cards are re-writable and are best for applicationsthat need high read/write speed. SRAM cards containback-up batteries.

Flash memory cardsFlash memory cards contain linear flash memory andhave no need for any back-up batteries. Flashmemory can be deleted instantly and is re-writable sothese cards are best suited for applications that donot need high read/write speeds and may require re-write functionality.

PC Card AdaptersPC Card Adapters provide portable PC connectivityfor various small-sized removable storage mediacards by allowing them to be used in full-size PCcard (PCMCIA) slots.
