Scientists have found a way to harness the power of a bolt of lightning to charge a mobile phone.

A team from the University of Southampton has collaborated with mobile phone company Nokia on the research.

Led by Neil Palmer from the University’s Tony Davies High Voltage Laboratory, the study investigated how a natural power source could be used to charge a Nokia Lumia 925. The team used an energy simulation similar to that of a bolt of lightning.
