The application will provide a Quality and Process
Management system for the Lodha Group, a premier real
estate firm to be used by their internal employees and
vendors. The application demands a workflow
management that automates, simplifies and direct the
right flow of information to the site supervisor to schedule
and conduct inspection, illustrate issues, manage
deficiencies, generate multiple reports, add digital
images/photos and mark them up for a specific
observation in the construction workplace.
The application will define the relationship in terms of:
Organization & Communication
QA/QM Monitoring & Reviews
Risk Management
Quality Audit
Standards, Procedures and Methods
Along with the web application, there will be an android
based mobile application specially designed and developed
for QM processes which allows the site supervisor to
thoroughly inspect and audit the construction site, manage
multiple vendors, distribute work through electronic
checklist and automate reporting at all levels.
Client Requirement
The application will automate the paper-based processes and enable the site supervisor the access to project information in real time via web and mobile. The application will also focus on automated workflow, QA, turnover inspections, managing issues and deficiencies on the construction site.
Project Challenges
Team faced the following challenges:
Data management complexity of the construction sites in regard with the building
plans, building floors, checklist, compliance, quality audits etc. The team had to work
hard to create a strong background data structure to get rid of these hindrances.
Generation of various multiple and vendor specific reports based on the status of the
progress of the work with respect to buildings, flats, varied construction sites etc.
which can help the Quality Control team to assess the reports to manage deficiencies
on the site.

Understand the nature of the construction process to develop a robust workflow
management which can reduce the paper work processes and simplify the information
flow in the right direction.
Syncing of the data by the site administrators as and when required.
Integration of camera to capture images/digital photos for later observation for
each of the checklist.
Real-time location tracking feature was incorporated wherein the vendor can get
the access to the location of workers working on the respective site locations.
As anyone in the construction knows addressing defects is a part of the process.
Advanced defect tracking system was developed that captures and stores the data
for analysis and effectively manage and address all defects on schedule.
The mobile app can be fully integrated with SAP/ERP to streamline the data
collection into the SAP/ERP system and augment the business process by providing
real time workflows.
Keeping in mind the construction industry, the network issues are often encountered.
The android app seamlessly works in the offline mode and makes it possible to
synchronize the data when the network connectivity is gained.
Huge amount of data transaction handling and syncing came as a challenge for the
team. Special algorithms were written to handle the data smoothly and effectively.
The team had to deal with the large amount of images (approximately 70 to 80MB)
which is expected to increase even more at the later stage.

Planning
The following development approach was adopted to equip the site with numerous
features and functionality mentioned before:
Introduced high level of server and data fetching technology.
Syncing existing and newly available data for backup with our database required specific
attention. This helped in result generation.
Maintained consistency in Graphical appearance with the help of given wireframe.
Milestones were defined to complete each inter-linked assignment. Continuous data
synchronization between the mobile device and server was required at every interval.
Research and analysis were scheduled at every project level to effectively manage the quality
and workflow processes for better and improved performance.
Development Highlights
Special focus on interactivity and user friendliness of the app while designing the Android
application.
Agile development strategies implemented using various proven tools thus ensuring quick and
effective solutions.
Optimal usage of open source technologies to reduce the total cost of android application
development.
Unit testing applied to ensure the quality of the application.
