Our purpose-built, state of the art and eco-friendly production plant in Avelgem, Belgium is just one of the ways we are doing things differently. With ongoing investment in green energy, Moduleo is proud to say that up to 70 per cent of the energy used in the manufacturing process will be generated by 3 wind turbines, coming on line in 2013.

David Bigland MD of the UK and Eire, comments: “By investing in our own wind farm, our factory will become energy-independent in the not-too-distant future and will operate entirely on its own wind energy.”

All Moduleo® products contain up to 50 per cent recyclable material of verified origin and are themselves recycled, whilst our Belgian production plant meets the strictest EU air and water pollution policies.

Unlike other LVT manufacturers, Moduleo® tiles are only shipped from Belgium, rather than the Far East which saves on unnecessary transportation and is much kinder to the planet.

Moduleo® design flooring is not only eco-friendly in production, but also in practise as cleaning does not require harsh chemicals and our products also contain heat insulating properties to cut down on heating requirements.

Our unique production process means that every Moduleo® tile is created with our unique multi-layer technology; formulated to create the ultimate hard-wearing floor.

Manufactured on a purpose-built production line, this multi-layered technology offers exceptional resilience, appearance and thermal protection for our customers.

To the strong backing layer which ensures dimensional stability, Moduleo® apply a printed design layer, followed by a transparent “wear layer”. A further Protectonite PU layer is then applied, offering extra resilience against scuff and scratches, as well as a water-proof and uniquely-textured finish.

David Bigland, MD of Moduleo® UK and Eire was only 18 when he joined the family business by becoming an apprentice fl oor layer. David comments: “My father’s family had worked as ships chandlers for 150 years and this evolved into a fl ooring business as ship building left the UK. When I was younger, I was always wanted to join the Armed Forces but ended joining the family company and soon found that the fl ooring industry was the one for me!”

David rapidly progressed up the career ladder and after 18 years of working for Amtico, having experienced a broad business career spanning Europe, Asia, Australia and the Middle East, he became Head of Sales for the UK.

The IVC group approached David, keen for him to bring his skills and inside-knowledge of the LVT industry to their latest venture: Moduleo® Design Floors. David was appointed as MD of Moduleo® UK and Eire in December 2011and is extremely optimistic about the future of the company

He comments: “Moduleo® is capable of transforming and modernising practices whilst also promoting greater eco-awareness. I predict that LVT and other durable fl ooring systems will continue to gain popularity, as carpets become a solution of the past. Customers will also begin to seek the benefi ts of global innovation and design but with local sourcing. By producing all of our products at our bespoke, factory in Belgium, we are able to off er a local product which is heavily infl uenced by cutting-edge European design.”

Now married with 3 children, David is passionate about giving back and making a diff erence to the environment. He continues: “Consumer habits are changing and quite rightly; we all want to know more about the ‘green’ credentials of the products we buy. At Moduleo®, we are proud to be doing things diff erently and are thrilled to bring to market, a luxury LVT product that can be bought with complete eco-confi dence.”
