Sustainable concepts

Fair working conditions and local sources are essential to our philosophy of social responsibility. Short communication ways and production sites nearby guarantee a consistent good quality. By using leftovers of industrial production and recyclable material, mo man tai produces and packs in an environmentally friendly way.

The company

mo man tai was founded by industrial designer Ulrike Jurklies in 2001. Of German origin, she first finished an apprenticeship in furniture making before studying industrial design in Munich. During her studies and after her graduation she worked in Hong Kong. Here she decided to start her own brand. In 2004 she moved to the Netherlands where the company is now located.

Gradient Candle

Our mo man tai Gradient Candles are 350mm long, burn for approx. 15 hours and are now available in eight different colours:

In 2014, we improved the Gradient Candles and took them into production with professionals from the Bolsius group.

The result: a 100% hand made paraffin wax candle in the original design of mo man tai; produced in Roermond by the Dutch traditional candle manufacturer ‘Kaarsenfabriek Hoogeland-Kristen’. Take a look at the video to see the production.

Bike

When thinking of Holland we think of bicycles – but today cycling is popular everywhere!

Riding your bike is healthy and keeps you fit, it’s environmentally friendly and above all is fun! So for all the bike lovers out there; ‘bike – recycled keychain’ is the perfect gift.

All mo man tai key chains are produced from metal left overs of the laser cutting industry. These ones are made from 2 or 3mm aluminium or stainless steel. You can not choose! You will get what kind of leftovers our supplier recycled.

The shape and size of the key chain hanger is practical in use and fits easily with the key(s) on the ring. All mo man tai key chains are sustainably packed in light weight, semi-transparent paper bags.

Tweet – for love notes

Everybody loves to get a note from a loved one!For sure if it comes in this way…In this time of ‘twittering’ it is a great gift to tell someone something in the ‘old, romantic way’.

Another great plus – it’s environmentally friendly: ‘tweet’ is laser-cut from different metal leftovers, made from 3 to 5mm stainless steel or aluminium. You can not choose! You will get what kind of leftovers our supplier recycled.

The packaging contains ca. 10 pieces of paper to start with and is minimized which allows economical mailing.

Year Round

Creative, simple and in typical mo man tai DIY-style; plan a project or a whole year with Year Round calendar tape!

Eight rolls of 10m tape give you all possibilities of planning and organizing.

These printed masking tape rolls can be arranged on your wall in any way that fits your actual needs. Be it an all year planner, birthday planner, for certain temporal projects or a timetable – the possibilities are endless…

Year Round calendar tape is made in Germany from masking paper tape that can easily be removed from normal, intact walls (and other surfaces) but we recommend to test before use on older, weathered walls etc.

Rocks

Due to strong demand, mo man tai expanded their product range with a set of candle holders: Rocks. They are handmade in the Netherlands from gypseous alabaster and a perfect match with the Gradient Candles.The set includes one large and two smaller basic candle holders.

With their timeless aesthetics, they match perfectly with the mo man tai Gradient Candles.

A mo man tai Sparkling Candle unfolds its beauty when the dot pattern starts floating on the melted wax.
