Preparing New Teachers For Equity & Excellence
The San Francisco Teacher Residency is a partnership between the San Francisco Unified School District, the University of San Francisco, Stanford University, and the United Educators of San Francisco.
The SFTR expeRience
• A yearlong classroom apprenticeship with a mentor teacher in San Francisco
• 3 years of weekly coaching, essential for success as a teacher
• Daily mentorship from experienced educators
• Learn to teach while building community within a cohort
• Earn a Teaching Credential and Master’s Degree from the University of San Francisco or Stanford University

• Desire to improve equity and access for our children
• Will make a 3-year commitment to teach in San Francisco’s public schools
• Want to teach math, science, elementary, and/or bilingual education
• Value coaching, mentorship, and learning within a community
• Admission into a partner university’s teacher education program is required

WisdomChemistry Resident
Before SFTR I was a student at UC Santa Cruz where I was a resident advisor at the Rosa Parks African American Theme House and a STEM tutor at a local community college.
VeronicaBiology Resident
Last year I was teaching science in a rural village in Guinea, and then instructed students studying for their high school exit exams. I majored in molecular biology at UC Berkeley.

ALMAMath Resident
My background is in applied mathematics and dance. While studying at UC Berkeley, I was a math tutor at a local high school, a research assistant, and a salsa teacher.
ChristianBilingual Elementary ResidentAs an undergrad at USF, I student- taught at 3 schools in San Francis-co. I’m fluent in both Spanish and American Sign Language, and care deeply about social justice.
