methods for the control of whitey. He also provided information regarding different insect predators of whitey. Nymph is the most destructive in nature. To control whitey nymph population there should be need to take measure to increase the population of predatory insects like, Crysopa, Geocorus, Orious and Spiders so that by using this technique the chemical pressure on cotton crop should be minimized. For the production of these predatory insects the destruction of natural weeds host plants of these insects like Shahtara, Parthenium, Akk, Jangli Palak, and Bathu should be avoided outside the eld. Recommended insecticides against whitey are Spirotetramate, Pyriproxin, Buprofezin and Diafenthuron, these are considered as safe insecticides against natural enemies.Mr. Zafaryab Haider, DG Agriculture Extension Punjab praised the efforts of Dr. Asif Ali VC for arranging such informative sessions which will be benecial for farming community. He also ensured that agriculture department will also provide such benecial information to farmers. On this occasion, Mr. Habib Ur Rehman from Bayer crop Sciences highlighted the product “Movento” which is very effective against whitey. He explained that this product is especially prepared for whitey control which remains effective for longer period as compared to other products.Dr. Muhammad Ishtiaq, Assistant Prof. Department of Entomology discussed pink bollworm status on Bt cotton according to his survey results. He explained that we have collected samples of cotton bolls from different farmer's elds of different districts of cotton zone. He said that there is not a single Bt cultivar expressing Cry1Ac that can resist pink bollworm. All the cultivars showed high rate of pink bollworm infestation. He also told that ginning factories waste and cotton sticks has number of pink bollworm larvae that is big source of pink bollworm for next year. He suggested some management strategies being adopted worldwide. He also emphasized that it could be controlled through community involvement and all stakeholders must play their role in its management.Later, Dr. Arshad Shakeel shared his experience that early sown cotton is under worst attack of pink bollworm that veries the survey results of Dr. M. Ishtiaq. He suggested forming a team of experts to formulate recommendation for whole Punjab rather depending on CCMG meetings. Engr. Dr. Alamgir, Akhtar delivered a comprehensive lecture on spraying techniques. He recommended that ow of spray material should be uniform and it should cover the whole area without interruption. He told about different types of sprayers, nozzles, spraying methods in detail which will help to control insect pests of cotton in an effective way. HIGH VALUE CROP PRODUCTION UNDER HYDROPONIC SYSTEM AT MNS-UAM

Hydroponic cultivation is a soil-less farming technique for the production of shallow rooted high value crops especially vegetables. It is an advanced form of tunnel technology tted with high efciency of irrigation system along with nutrient supply (fertigation), air-circulation, temperature and relative humidity control. Overall, this system ensures limited chances of external contaminants (insect/pest) and least pesticide sprays, thereby producing high and export quality agriculture produce. In near future, CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor) is going to open new avenues for agriculture sector (new export markets, trades routes etc.). Although, hydroponic is an expensive technology especially for developing countries like Pakistan; however, it has various commercial advantages as compared to conventional farming e.g.
