concerned authority towards the increased prices of petrol, disel, and LPG cylinder. This is thefifth time in last few months in the city that prices of motor fuels and kitchen fuels have

increased. How can the common mass survive? These are the basic amenities on which the life of peopledepend. Now it is getting tough to buy these amenities. People have to reassess their budgets. This time average man who uses small car will have to spend ` 135 a month extra and a two-wheeler owner will have an extra burden of ` 90 a month. With higher price of cooking gas, total additional burden on a family should not be less than the sign ` 20.In the fire of price hike, the life of every man gets effected. Government should stop the pricehike somehow. The time is not far when survival of the fittest will not be possible.I request the concern authorities to pay some attention towards it and take some step tocontrol the price hike.

    WORKSHEET18

    1. Computer plays an important role in each and every field. World has now become computerworm. Children are the most influenced group by the computer world. Children spend half of their time in front of the computer screen. They play games, listen songs, watch movies, make friends and chat with them, solve riddles, do drawing. Outdoor games like Cricket,Football, Kabaddi, etc. have lost their charm. Because every outdoor game in the form of video games are available on the computer. Children are not being taught the advantages of outdoor games. They just want to stick to computer. Outdoor games help in the developmentof physical and mental growth. Outdoor game keep one fit and teach many qualities likeleadership, team work, gain confidence, etc. On the other hand, computer makes one lazy, dont give any time for physical exercise to keep fit. Sitting in front of computer weakenseyesight. Thus it can be said that computer has so many negative things and has locked thedoor to outdoor games. The first thing a child does in the evening is to play games oncomputer rather than go to park with friend for outdoor games.

    2. Television and obesity are different terms but somehow they are related to each other in therevolutionized world. Television has become leisure centre for the children. They give muchof their time to television at the cost of their health. Watching TV for long hours makeschildren obese. They waste their playing hours on television that restrict them only to theirseats. Children have the habit of eating things like chocolates, cold drinks, potato chips, noodles while watching TV that makes them fat or obese. Obesity is the store house of manydiseases like hyper tension, heart related problems. Obese children also lose confidence dueto their overweight and cut themselves from the society. Fantasized by the televisionchildren dont allow themselves to do any kind of physical exercise that come half to burntheir accumulated fat. So indirectly it can be said that Television is responsible for obesityin children.

    1. DURGA POOJA(by XYZ )

Every year, the celebration of Durga Pooja is a sight to behold. Durga Pooja is celebratedwith lots of zeal and zest especially in the eastern states of India, West Bengal. In the hugecelebration of Durga Pooja, idol immersion is a big religious ritual for Hindus. But, people forget that their celebrations are somehow polluting the water bodies. The chemicals,

clothes, ornaments, flowers, and decorating material immersed with idols are becoming anenvironmental hazard. These toxic and non-biodegradable things decrease the oxygen level in

the river that leads to the death of marine life. Approximately, close to 10 lakh idols are immersed each year in Indias water bodies. Now,imagine the catastrophic effect of the toxic materials released by the immersed idols.Government has issued some guidelines that prohibit pollution of the water bodies as well asdo not hurt the sentiments of devotees.Traditionally, we have been using environmentfriendly products to make idols. We should dothe same. Government has strictly prohibited the use of toxic and non-biodegradable coloursand dyes. There should be used only clay and natural colours to make idols. Devotees areasked to remove clothes, ornaments, flowers from idols before immersing them into waterbodies. People are also being made aware about the ill effects of toxic products.Celebration are made for enjoyment but it should be done under the welfare of all living beings. It is possible when we join together to make earth a beautiful planet by minimizing pollution.

    2. AVOID IMPULSE BUYING ON ELECTRONIC GADGETS

(by XYZ )Some people have wide variety of electronic gadgets which starts from LCD, computer, iPod,DVD player, Music system, etc. The list will go on. Stop! Give a thought. This going on list isnot a tool to showcase your extravagances but it is a mirror of your silliness. If one product can be multi-usage, then why to buy another one for the same usage. If you canplay a DVD on your computer or laptop then why to buy DVD-player for the same. Only becauseyour friend, relative or some neighbour have it. It does not show your good judgment sense. When you have a feel or impulse to buy any electronic goods just for the sake to have it, thinkabout the money you are going to spend, its utility, or the space used by it. If you can listen tosongs from the bluetooth of your mobile, then why to waste money on the iPod.Do planning before buying the single usage iPod in comparison to multi-usage mobile youhave already in your pocket. Ask yourself, do you have enough money to buy it ? Does it havesome real usage or the space it will take in your room? On the one hand, your mobile cansubstitue the iPod. On the other hand, too many gadgets can clog up your room.

    WORKSHEET20

    1. TURN VEGGIE WASTE INTO CNGHonourable Principal, respected teachers and my dear friends. Today, I would like to tellabout the new technique to turn veggie waste into CNG.

All types of waste have become a major threat to human beings. Waste is a hazardoussubstance for which we have to find a solution. The time is not far away when Earth willbecome merely a dustbin not enough to decompose the huge waste. The Biodegradable waste like food scraps, paper, kitchen waste, oil, flower, leaves, farmwaste, etc. can be used to generate energy in the form of CNG (Compressed Natural Gas). This technique not only decomposes the waste but also fulfil the increasing demand of fuel.Government has already set up a plant in Maharashtra to produce CNG from waste.

According to a study, food waste contributes to around 25-30% of total waste. This waste comesfrom houses, hotels, restaurants, temples or religious institutes, industrial canteens, hospitalskitchens and fruits, vegetables and flower market. Such wastes is biodegradable or food wastesand is taken to the gas-generating plant. The waste is broken and converted into CNG and theleft our slurly forms the natural fertilizer. The CNG is then transported to CNG stations. The fertilizer formed can replace the fossilfuel-based fertilizers, there by reducing CO 2 emission in the environment.

The CNG produced from the food waste is odourless, i.e., it has no foul smell. The plantemits no pollution in the environment like other factories as it is based on 100% recycling.

This technique will resolve the problem of waste decompose, fulfil the increasing demand of energy, and produce the eco-friendly fertilizers. It is in all the way round an environmentfriendly method and has become a boon to save the planet Earth.Thank you

    2. THE FLIP SIDE OF REALITY SHOW

Honourable principal, respected teacher and my dear friends. Today, I would like to drawyour attention towards the participation of children under 14 years in the Reality Shows.Nowaday, every channel on television is in the rat race of making money through realityshows. Whether, it is a dance competition, singing competition or acting competition, audience just has to send a SMS to vote their favourite participant and this is how thereality show makers make a lot of money. TV channels have not even left the children intheir money making game.Children of age 4 to 14 are taking part in the reality shows. It is true that these shows give

them big platform to show their talent, and make their career. But for this, in such a smallage, they have to pass through a very tough time. Things that we watch on TV, i.e., theirperformance on stage and getting compliments from celebrity judges look brighter but thereis the other side of the coin. Just flip it and you will get its darker side.Children do rehearsal continuously for 8 hours. They are overburdened with lots of physicaland mental pressure. They also have to take care of their studies simultaneously. They haveto apply make up and wear heavy dresses. The stress affects their overall development.Children are so innocent that they make the winning of these reality shows their life. Theydont want to see the world beyond that line. They think if they will not be able to win the competition, they would not be able to doanything. In their small age, it is the time to give them an environment in which theycan bloom fully and develop fully physically and mentally rather prepared to go throughin the fire. The participation of children under 14 years should be banned or the rules and regulation of

these reality shows should be revised concerning small children.Thank you

    1. There are many ways to reuse or recycle the biodegradable waste like paper, fruits andvegetable waste, leaves, etc. And human being have almost succeeded in converting foodwaste into fuel, manure or many other things. But the biggest challenge for human race liesin how to dispose the increasing innumerable heaps of non-biodegradable waste like plasticbottles, glass, tiles, CDs, tyres. We just throw away these waste material from our homeswithout thinking twice that what hazard would they become for the environment lying inthe dumping ground. Smart use of the non-biodegradable waste is to convert them intounique dcor items. Use old car tyres to fence the wall or garden of your house. Use paintedplastic or glass bottles as boundary markers for different section of the garden. Bury bottlesupside down, halfway into the ground, you can make a mural on the wall by using piece of broken vases, glasses, tiles and marble. Remodel glass bottles using hues of paint tobeautify your house. A painted CD can be the hand made creative dcor item for your house.

polythene, computer, mobile, road transport, etc. In one way, they have made our life morecomfortable but on the other way they do not spare us from their side effects.

Road transport like cars and buses had made feasible to cover hundred of miles easily. Due tothis, we cant ignore the traffic that is increasing day by day especially in the metropolitancities. We feel happy to read the data of increased number of cars sold every year. Along withthe data, the increasing problem of traffic also comes. In todays busy life, going by road transporthas become daily ordeal for people and sometimes it takes around one hour to cover just 10 kmof distance. Roads are over stressed because of the ever-rising traffic volume.Government should imply the rule for running the cars having even number plates on Monday,Wednesday and Friday and cars with odd number plates on the rest of the days. People shouldtry to do car pooling to overcome the traffic problem. People should use the Public transportsuch as metro service and buses.

It has so many plants bearingbeautiful flowers that I become like a bee that gets attracted to flowers and comes to play withthem. In the evening I play with my friends. The people of other societies also come hereand praise the beauty of this park. It has a fountain with colourful water. The most important

    7. ALL WORK AND NO PLAY MAKES JACK A DULL BOYIt is rightly said that all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Our body is like a machine. If we keep working for many hours at stretch it gets broken down like a machine. As amachine needs to be stopped after sometime so does our body. Rest and recreation are veryessential to remove stress and fatigue from our body as well as our mind. If our mind will notget proper recreation then we will start feeling stressed and worn out. It is important that achild devote a good amount of time towards studies but it is equally important that a childplays so that his mind and body are refreshed and new thoughts are able to generate.Without play a child cannot develop properly so work and play are equally important.

    7. IMPORTANCE OF TREESGood morning, respected principal, teachers and my dear friends. As you know that fromtoday onwards we will start planting trees around our school and this will go on for a week. But please tell me one thing that are you willing to plant trees or it is because of compulsionof school authorities. We need to willingly save trees as we want to save ourselves. Plantmore and more trees as trees are very important for our life. Without trees there cant be anylife. Trees are source of life giving oxygen. They provide us food, shelter, etc. If there wouldhave been no trees on our earth then life would not have originate on it. Our environment isgetting worse day by day because we are destroying trees so the need of the hour is that eachone of you should plant trees around school, at your place and in your surrounding. Also justdont plant trees rather be their guardians, make them your friends. After planting treestake care of them otherwise young trees will not perish. I now hope you will all come forwardto make more and more tree bloom in our surroundings.Thank you.

regarding roads, fly overs, bridges, and especially the public transport. Our governmentimplemented many changes to have smooth traffic. But there are still more chances of

improving it. Number of passengers should be restricted. Frequency of buses should beproperly maintained and they should follow proper time-table. As far as Metro is concerned,it should cover all routes in the entire city. Metro management should increase the numberof feeder buses and there should be proper integration with bus system at possible locations.I hope that concerned authority would think about the above ways to improve and managethe traffic on Delhi roads.Thanking youyours sincerelyKunal

Most people believe that there is some life beyond our planet earth.I too believe the same. There must be some other creatures in this universe. The universe is

such a big place and we have seen or observed only a very minute part of it. Even now whenscience has developed so much, we are unable to unfold the mysteries of this universe. Therehave been various stories about sighting of UFOs by people at different place. There must besome fact in all this. Everything cant be out of imagination of people. I have myself noticeda brightly coloured disk moving in dark sky. It was not any helicopter or aeroplane as it wasquite clear from the shape that it was something different. I hope we find some aliens andthen I will make them my friends.

    7. Earlier every child used to possess toys and they were not only the source of amusement but

used to be their friends. But nowadays toys seem to have lost their importance. Now the placeof toys have been taken up by video games, computer and TV. Children remain glued to thesefor hours. Toys are important for every child they help them to develop understanding andcaring attitude as children do role plays using their toys and thus show a caring naturetowards their toys. They also learn sharing and cooperation as they share toys with eachother. Role playing with toys promote creativity as children make their own story or scenesto act. Toys are good source of recreation as well as learning. It is therefore essential thatparents get toys for their child and limit their time of watching TV or playing video gamesand they should encourage playing with toys.

New DelhiSeptember 14, 2010Dear UmangHope you are in good health. I am fine here. This time I am going to tell you about the DilliHaat as I visited it last Sunday.Dilli Haat is modelled on village. It looks like a North Indian village. At the entrance, yousee the image of two belles churning milk into butter. As you go inside, you see the brickfloor, the thatched roof, the sarod players, and open sky that give one the illusion of beingin a haat or a village fair.Dilli Haat is full of food stalls. You get cuisine of many Indian states. The cooking is veryauthentic and the prices are very moderate.

At the corridors and side court-yards, there are stalls selling colourful handicrafts fromdifferent regions. You will be tempered by Rajasthani lehengas chikankari kurtas, punjabi

jutis, kolhapuri chappals, bead neckless, etc. I also bought one kurta for me.When you will come to Delhi we will go there to see the rural life. Give regards to uncle andaunt.

New DelhiSeptember 6, 20XXDear RomaHope you are in good health. I want to tell you about my best birthday present given by mydad this year. It is a three month old small pup. It has white hair and black eyes. It hasbecome a family member for us.But keeping a pup as pet means a big responsibility. I give him bath daily and comb its hairtwice to keep him hygienic. I also went for its vaccination. Yesterday it had milk and breadin its small bowl. I take care that his bowl is being cleaned regularly. I take him for anevening walk. He plays with my red ball. I am giving him toilet training which is mandatoryfor pet.Everyone loves him. When I come back from school he waits for me at the gate and cuddlesin my arms as he misses me a lot. Many neighbourhood children visit us. You will be veryglad to meet it.Give regards to Uncle and Aunt.

    1. Every child has his childhood fantasy about becoming or doing something. I fantasizeabout becoming a Radio Jockey (RJ). Radio is the only medium of audio communication. Itis only the voice of the radio jockey that communicate with millions of people at one time.Nowadays many private radio stations are being opened. Informative, educative andentertainment programmers are being broadcasted on radio. Radio Jockey is the personwho host the audiance by power of his voice. The interaction skill and voice are the fortefor a radio jockey. He gets the chance to interact, live with different kind of people and

their thoughts. The most attractive part of this job is that people recognize you by yourvoice. I want to see myself on the same platform when people would identify me by myvoice. Nitin from 93.5 Red FM is one of my favourite radio jockey. He inspires me a lot tocreate my fantasy world and motivates me to give my voice to the world.

    2. In my summer holiday I went to my cousin in Delhi to spend and enjoy holidays. He used topraise a lot about the metro that had been started by Delhi Government as a publictransport. From that time I was curious to experience the metro myself. In last summerholidays, I got a chance to be a metro passenger. We bought the tickets from Keshavpuramto Rajiv Chowk as we planned to go to India Gate. Then we entered into the platformthrough the automatic gates where one have to just press the token to open it. We wentupstairs through escalator and there we had to wait for 2 minutes for our train. The information alert of the coming train were displayed digitally on a board. We seatedourselves on the waiting seat and noticed the cleanliness of the platform. I didnt believe my

eyes that it is our country, India where development is going on such a fast rate. The traingates opened automaticaly, we got into the train and the gates got closed. It was an ACtrain and all the information about coming stations were being announced continuously. Weenjoyed during the half an hour ride till our station came. We got down the train and tookauto rickshaw ending this memorable metro ride towards India Gate. This was the memorableride which I cant forget throughout my life.

    1. AS YOU SOW, SO SHALL YOU REAPIn India there has been a long tradition of joint families. The child used to grow under theguidance of both parents and grandparents. He used to get all the culture and traditions byseeing his elders living in harmony and performing all rituals jointly. But this old agetradition of joint family seems to be losing somewhere. Now, when a child grows up andsettles in his life, he starts taking his parents as a burden on him. He starts thinking thatthey are hurdles in his life. So he throws them out of his life. The old parents who need lovein their old age are rendered homeless with no one to look after them. If a person is leavinghis parents like this, doesnt he think that the same would be his fate? He would also beturned out of his house by his kids. The proverb, As you sow, so shall you reap will standtrue. Now they are turning out their parents, they are teaching their kids not to have anyattachments with grandparents. The kids will learn all this and take all in and when theywill be the master of the house, they will do the same. The same people who taught all thisto their kids will repent for their deeds. So its better that they respect and love their

parents, if they wish to have these from their kids.2. GOALS IN STUDENTS LIFE

Life as a student is the most important phase of ones life. It is like a foundation for entire life, therefore, the goals should be set up at right age. If a student will study without any goal thenhe wont be able to achieve success. A students life without any goal is like a journey that hasno end. A student should set up goals according to his potential and then should give his bestto achieve his goals. If a student hasnt set any target then at what will he hit. So to achievesuccess a student should set small goals in early age and then make sure
