1. Introduction

This document notes the functionality and UI design of MMS playback.

Section 2-1 shows the functionality and UI design of MMS preview, section

2-2 shows the functionality and UI design of MMS view, section 2-3 shows the

supported type of the playback and the last section ,2-4, shows some design

limitation of playback.

1. CMCS MMS The CMCS MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) client is a messaging account that embeds in the Microsoft’s Inbox. It can provide a messaging

operation with a variety of media types, so called multi media. The

sophisticated definition is noted on MMS design document by Jackson Rau.

2. MMS PlaybackMMS playback function can provide a view or preview ability of the CMCS

MMS client. There are two ways that MMS playback function would be activated:a. When user composes a MMS message and wants to preview it.b. When user retrieves a MMS message and wants to view it.

3. MMS previewFor any object the user has previously inserted in the constructing MMS message, he/she can select to open and view/play it. For example: an inserted image can be opened in image viewer; an inserted voice-clip can be played in sound recorder; an inserted video-clip can be played in embedded WMP (Widows Media Player) control.

4. MMS ViewWhen a MM message is successfully downloaded and saved into MMS Inbox, a notification will be shown in home screen. User can then directly select from the notification on home screen to access MMS Inbox. In the MMS inbox, there is a list-view window to list all the incoming MMS. User can select one and view it. (Sometimes, we also call this behavior: ‘play’. Because the slides is more than one and we perform the slide-show behavior), see the below picture.
