34th MMPDS Coordination Meeting

Chairman’s Remarks – Mark James, FAA

I want to thank everyone who participated in the 34th MMPDS coordination meetings held in Charlotte, North Carolina. I would also like to thank the Battelle team for organizing and managing the week’s activities.

I would also like to thank the outgoing Chair and Vice-Chairs of the Industry Steering Group (ISG), Andrew Steevens and Peter Bittner, for their time and service, and welcome Peter Bittner and Christoph Heine (Airbus) as the incoming ISG Chair and Vice-Chair’s respectively.

In addition to this changing of the guard, Jim Kabbara has moved on to other activities that demand 100% of his time. So we say goodbye and thank him profusely for all of his efforts in supporting MMPDS activities over the years. I will be moving from the Vice-Chair to the Chairman Position and look forward to the challenges ahead. Due to the increased demand on my time, I must give up some other things. So Michael Gorelik, who is the FAA Chief Scientist and Technical Advisor (CSTA) for Fatigue and Damage Tolerance, has agreed to take over my Co-Chair Position alongside Sam Cordner (NASA) overseeing the Emerging Technology Task Group (ETTG). A big welcome and thanks to him for stepping up into this role.

Thanks again for attending the 34th MMPDS Coordination meetings. Your commitment, dedication and donation of your valuable time to maintain MMPDS is most appreciated. I look forward to seeing everyone at the 35th MMPDS Coordination meetings.

Best Regards,Chairman, Mark James
