MLS Welcome Orlando City - Unveil Inaugural Jersey

by Neeraj Tewari

Major League Soccer is nearing the end of it’s season. Currently, several teams are battling their

way through the playoffs to hopefully take top honors for the 2014 season and hoist the MLS trophy.

There have been several developments and changes during the 2014 season, including the unveiling of a new MLS logo starting in 2015.

One of the biggest developments,

however, is the arrival of expansion team

Orlando City SC, who will make their debut

at the start of next season.

Not only is Orlando City SC making noise by joining the league, but they plan on hitting the ground running with their

first Designated Player, Kaká - Brazilian star, former FIFA World Player of the Year, and World Cup champion with

Brasil’s 2002 team.

Kaká is one of the most beloved players in his home country of Brasil and will surely be adored by Orlando City and MLS fans alike.

Nearly 4 months away from their debut in Major League Soccer, Orlando City FC continue to make some big

headlines. The team recently unveiled their inaugural 2015 home kit at an event hosted by the University of Florida

Health Cancer Center at Orlando Health.

Like every uniform in the MLS, the Orlando City FC kit is made by Adidas. The jersey is made up of a purple shirt and shorts, three stripes down the sleeves, the Orlando Health logo across the front, and a gold trim

with the phrase “This is Orlando” on the neck.

As an effort to recognize the club’s history, the jersey will also feature the old Orland

City logo on the inside of the jersey.

2015 is shaping up to be quite the year for Major League Soccer as it also welcomes expansion team New York City

FC and their star Frank Lampard - all-time leading goalscorer for English Premier League side Chelsea, and 2-

time player of the year for England.

As a fan of Major League Soccer, one hopes that the arrival of a players like Kaká and Frank Lampard will continue to elevate the level of competition in the league, as both are

still very capable of playing world-class football.
