I am so excited to share with you the Number 1 brand of skin care and color cosmetics in the Nation!

Aren’t you excited to try a product before you buy it? Doesn’t that make sense to you? Have you ever taken something home from the cosmetic counter and it was the wrong color, too oily or too dry? Do you have a drawer of buying mistakes?

That will never happen with Mary Kay because you can try be-fore you buy. I’m going to teach you step-by-step how to use it and then we will talk in a few days (or get together) to discuss your favorites!

Mary Kay is unconditionally guaranteed. You’ll never be stuck with something in Mary Kay that you don’t love.

Glamour determines how you look in 10 minutes and skin care determines how you will look in 10 years, so let’s think about skin care being the most important. It takes 2 minutes in the morning and 2 minutes in the evening to take care of our skin. We spend 24 hours a day growing old. Don’t you feel you deserve 4 minutes a day keeping your skin looking young?

Research shows that by age 20 you have the skin you were born with, by age 40 the skin you have created and by age 60 the skin that you deserve! Doesn’t everyone deserve beautiful skin?

Don’t you?

Mary Kay’s Mission To enrich women’s lives with products that help you look and feel great and offer an incredible business opportunity

Who is Mary Kay? With innovative sales techniques and programs aimed at boosting the self-esteem of her employees, Mary Kay Ash has built the largest direct sales cosmetic empire in the world. Mary Kay Cosmetics work force is almost exclusively female and includes several of America’s self- made women millionaires. Ash, a businesswoman worth an estimated $320 million, founded her world-famous company with an investment of $5,000 and a vision of how to manage a product and work force based on her often bitter experiences in male-dominated business culture. Her company’s success rests nearly as much on her dynamic personality and personal sales ability as it does on the quality of the merchandise. “For Mary Kay the Pollyanna principle has always paid dividends,” noted a People Magazine reporter. “Her modus operandi is a shrewd blend of business savvy and maternal warmth.”

Ash began her company at a time when she could have retired. A veteran of both direct sales and the corporate boardroom, she felt challenged to offer energetic women business opportunities they might not find anywhere else. “I’m like a mother who wants to give her children the things she didn’t have,” she admitted in People. “I wanted to start a company where being a woman wasn’t a liability.” The perky executive succeeded even beyond her wildest dreams. As Alan Farnham put it in Fortune, “Wom-en who never led anything more demanding than the family dog for a walk have been transformed into sales managers leading up to 20,000 people each. You could do worse than emulate this company. How does Mary Kay do it? By giving people recognition, not just cash.”

The founder of Mary Kay Cosmetics began her sales career with the Child Psychology Bookshelf, and Ash began to write a career guide that would help other women avoid the pitfalls that had marred her working life. She began making notes of all her negative experiences in business and then made exten-sive lists of positive experiences that might result in better productivity and happier, more confident employees. What began as an outlet for personal frustration became, in a period of weeks, a blueprint for a workable direct-sales company—the dream company for which Ash herself would love to work. Then an idea occurred to her; perhaps she should start such a company herself. All she needed was a product—something that could be used up and re-ordered again.

Using her life savings of $5,000, she bought the recipes for the skin softeners from a tanner, furnished a modest storefront in Dallas, and set up a small manufacturing plant. Her first employees included her husband; a chemist to create a line of basic skin care products; and a sales force of nine of her friends.

On September 13, 1963, she launched Beauty by Mary Kay. From the outset Ash’s company was some-what different from other direct-sales concerns. Her salespeople were called “consultants.” They were encouraged to demonstrate the products on clients at home “classes” aimed not only at selling cosmetics but at fostering better self-images among women customers.

Animals are not used for product testing, and the company has been cited by the United Nations Environment Program for “exemplary leadership in promoting sound environmental policies within the cosmetic industry.” Perhaps the most outstanding characteristic of Mary Kay Cosmetics, however, is the enthusiasm of its sales force. This infectious fervor for both product and company philosophy is largely the result of Ash’s personal philosophy. Nothing less than a guru to many of her employees, she has showered her top performers with lavish gifts and public praise. Every year the company awards the trademark pink Cadillacs, diamond jewelry, and five-star vacations to outstanding consultants, managers, and recruiters. The affection Mary Kay Ash’s work force feels for her was the subject of much amusement in the business world for a time, but now other companies are studying her program of self-esteem boosts, generous incentives, and old-fashioned, Faith-and-family-centered value.

Dual marketing concept Mary Kay is not a pyramid or multi-level company. There is one wholesale

sale (from the company to the Beauty Consultant) and one retail sale (from

the Consultant to the customer). There are no levels of wholesaling in Mary

Kay. Everyone has the opportunity to earn the same commission. We do not

sell franchises, distributorships or positions. All commissions are paid by

Mary Kay, Inc.

We Have LessThan 10% of the Cosmetics Business That means 90 out of every 100 people are using the wrong thing!

You Cannot Buy Your Way In Everyone begins with the purchase of the Starter Kit. You do not work for

Mary Kay; you are an independent contractor. You are President of your own

company. You are your own boss. You choose your own hours. You write your

own paycheck.

Highest Commission of Anyone in the Industry We can buy our product for $1 and sell it for $2 (50% commission).

Faith First, Family Second, Career Third Mary Kay says if we put our priorities in this order, we will be successful.

On-The-Spot Delivery Most consultants choose to have the product to deliver at their classes and

facials while the customer is excited and remembers how to use it, however,

inventory is an option. You choose the option for you.

No Top Job Many times, you are as high as you can go in your job. Once you attain that position, there

are no more challenges. In Mary Kay, there is no limit on how high you can go.

Consumable Product Mary Kay is a product that the customer needs to order again and again. Every time you

give a facial or hold a skin care class, you are building your financial future. A customer

will average $125 a year in reorders, 400 customers would be $50,000 a year. Our goal is to

gain customers, service them on a regular basis and enjoy the reorders.

No Territories

We have unlimited earning power because we have no territories. You can sell or recruit

anywhere in the United States.

No Quotas You are not required to hold a certain number of classes or facials in a week or month.

Minimum requirement is $225 wholesale order 1 time a year to keep your consultant dis-

count (must be 1 order), 2 times a year to keep team members. You can work as much or as

little as you want, when you want.

Recession Proof The only stocks that did not go down during WWII were cigarettes, liquor and cosmetics.

No matter how tight money is, women will not do without their cosmetics. It’s a great busi-

ness to be in because you do not have to convince women it’s something they need, they

are already buying it.

90% Buy Back Guarantee Mary Kay is willing to bet 90% on you. Are you willing to bet 10% on yourself? That means

that if you decide Mary Kay doesn’t fit into your lifestyle, you may return unused section 1

inventory within your first year and Mary Kay will buy it back at 90% of what you paid for

it. This allows you to begin your career with a free mind.

About Me

www.marykay.com/dawnlenz

Dawn Leslie Lenz

Pursuing My Passion I have been a writer since the age of eight when I penned my first micro-fiction story about a tiny girl who lived in a tree stump. Since then, I have written short stories, poems, nonfiction, articles, marketing materi-als and novels. Writing is my passion. I am a Master of Fine Arts graduate of the Low Residency Creative Writ-ing Program at the University of New Orleans, traveling to Brunnenburg castle in Dorf Tirol, Italy and Madrid, Spain to study writing as well as many other destinations on my own. You can find out more about my writing on my author website here.

Mary Kay allows me the freedom and flexibility to pursue my passion of writing on my own terms, something which I lacked when working in the corporate world.

Why Mary Kay?I feel as though in today’s fast-paced world where so much is demanded of women, whether they have stress-ful corporate jobs or equally stressful home responsibilities or both as is so often the case, women have little time left over at the end of the day to take care of themselves. My job as a beauty consultant is to gift women that pre-cious time—to give themselves a lit-tle “me” time. I often hear women say that they don’t have time to have a consultation or facial with me, but after we find a few free minutes and have their pampering session, they find that they’ve relaxed for a while, they maybe even had some precious girl time, and they had so much fun in the process! That is what makes my job so incredibly rewarding—watch-ing the smiles bloom on the faces of the women in my classes, watching the stress leave their shoulders and witnessing them enjoy themselves!

Owning my own Mary Kay business is rewarding in so many ways, but help-ing women is the number one reason for doing what I do. It never ceases to put a smile on my face when I see a customer or team member’s confi-dence boosted by her own success.

“Don’t limit yourself. Many people limit themselves towhat they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember, you can achieve.

—Mary Kay Ash
