same day. I hope that students, parents and teachers enjoy a safe and relaxing me during the school holidays.

Light The Way

Last week 5N & 4/5B students were given the opportunity to use the Solarbuddy lights, which they had assembled the week before. Mr Simpson (the fabulous Professional Experience Teacher working with 5N) and Ms Buchanan taught lessons in the darkness of the school hall. Using the lights in a dark se ng was really exci ng for the students but it also had a really big impact on their understanding of what it is like to live without electricity. The 'Power Off, Solar On' lesson helped the students understand the seriousness of energy poverty and the opportunity the Solarbuddy light is providing the students who will receive them in Uganda. Students were able to reflect on what life would be like without electricity and the other comforts we take for granted on a day to day basis.

It was a wonderful experience for both schools and we are very grateful to Chatswood for sharing their musical skills. If you’d like to see a snippet of the rehearsal, please head to the online version of this newsle er and click the link below: h ps://photos.app.goo.gl/wEtRrhS1YumyD0y32 If any students were in the audience and think they might like to learn a concert band instrument next year, please don’t hesitate to contact me!                  Miss Michael

Birds of a Feather This term KE and 5/6C ‘buddied up’ together to express themselves through art. Their task was to depict their personality through wooden spoons. KE and 5/6C joined forces and with the use of feathers, paper, markers, pipe cleaners and a lot of glue, managed to express their traits

Reading Eggs and Mathle cs are 2 highly recommended and valued websites that students at our school have been provided access for students by way of a subscrip on paid through the parent school resources package. Every student who has paid the school resources pack fees throughout the year has been issued with a user‐name and password which allows the student to access the sites free of charge at home and at school. If your child does not have or know his/her password, please see your class teacher. The sites do not pose a great burden on internet data usage and provide fun, interac ve and visually s mula ng tasks to engage students in mathema cs, including drill and prac se tasks and reading ac vi es including spelling, punctua on and grammar tasks. Some teachers at our school even set homework in Reading Eggs and Mathle cs! Reading Eggs and Mathle cs can be accessed 3 ways:

1. Google ‘Reading Eggs’ or ‘Mathle cs’ 2. Type the internet address for either site straight into the address bar at the top of your internet browser: www.readingeggs.com.au or www.mathle cs.com.au 3. Visit our school web page. Curriculum and Ac vi es

Cricket is in the Swing! Year 3 had their first of 4 cricket clinics this week. These sessions are provided by Cricket Australia to our students in prepara on for our annual Cricket GALA day, early in Term 4. This is an annual event on our calendar and considered to

through a kitchen utensil. Mrs Egan set the pace and raised the bar by depic ng her personality through the first spoon and the students eagerly followed. The result was a flock of ‘birds’ that were, flamboyant, sporty, powerful, pre y and unique. Our students had the opportunity to reflect on their own character, discuss their traits with a ‘buddy’ and showcase who they believe they are. It was a great learning opportunity for all and a great way to use and learn social skills. Mr Christodoulopoulos

Woolies Earn and Learn is Over for 2017 Tomorrow is the last opportunity to submit your Woolies Earn and Learn s cker sheets or s ckers. The promo on ends during the school holidays and the sheets will need to be submi ed before we return for Term 4. We are very grateful for our fabulous, suppor ve community for the support that has been shown during this promo on. The storage box for the s cker sheets that sits in the office is nearly full to overflowing. We look forward to finding out how many points we’ve collected.  The points will be redeemed for resources such as sta onery resources, educa onal games, books or other areas that the school chooses to support the students.  Without the support of our school staff, we would not have been able to process these s ckers. Thank you.
