The disease share many common aspects with mi-tral valve prolapse due to myxomatous degeneration inhuman beings and therefore it is of particular importan-ce for comparative medicine. This seminar is aimed to present and discuss the most up-dated knowledge on physiopathology, natural history, echocardiographic evaluation and current treatment op-tions for chronic degenerative mitral valve disease in thedog. An interactive section at the end of the seminar willinclude clinical cases illustrative of sections discussed. This seminar is aimed to veterinarians with cardiologytraining.
