Typical Practice

• Arrival– Door code information– Locker room; short lockers only– Lineups: be ON TIME– Not everybody gets to

row always

Expectations

• Safety– Be aware of what’s going on:

especially when handling boats or landing– Coxswains (everybody) need to know the rules and

use good judgement

• Respect for Others– If you commit, you have a responsibility to be there

No e-mails at 2am saying that you can’t show up– Be on time– How we treat others (time on the dock, etc…

• Respect for Equipment– Each boat costs upwards of $30K

Procedures

• Each Friday, Coach Benson will announce lineups for the following week (by e-mail). Your teammates expect that you will be there.

• Contact your team captain before Friday if you have a planned absence—no penalty.– Also check lineups to

verify you’re not boated

Procedures, cont’d

• After the weekly lineups have been announced, it becomes your responsibility to find a replacement and contact your team captain by 8pm on the night before practice even if there are spares.– Check the lineups to see who wasn’t boated; we’ll

provide a contact e-mail list

• If you don’t show up to practice without a replacement, your absence will be taken into account when future practice or race lineups are created.

Participation Requirements

• MIT Community (Z-Center Membership or MIT ID)– Includes all MIT affiliates (students, faculty, staff, spouses)

• Dues (6-week season)– Experienced Rowers: $120 (due by 9/16)– Novices: $80 (due by 9/23)– Coxswains: FREE!– Additional fees for races, November rowing may be required

• Swim Test Required– MIT Small Boats Test offered at the Z-Center Pool MONDAY-
