Conversation with my boss
Winter 1978- University of Tennessee
Gene: “My Dad wants to know what cotton variety he
should plant next year.”
Phillip Hoskinson: “Hmm…. Tell your father that will
depend on the weather. If I knew what the weather is going
to be, then I could tell him the best cotton variety to plant.”

cotton specialists study
• end of three year evaluation funded by Cotton Inc.
• dry and liquid fertilizer (0, 40, 80, 120, 160 lb K2O/acre)
• wide range of initial soil potassium levels represented
across test locations in other states.
• Missouri potassium experiment is on Lee Farm. Soil test
K is on border between medium and high.
