Dear members,

I am reminded of Ecclesiastes as I think about 2014. The writer suggested that everything, has great purpose under God:

For me, it is an important passage about timing and change. Last year was hard in so many ways. We had a tough financial year brought on by leadership turnover. Additional turnover occurred because of restructuring.

And yet, it was also a very, very good year. With the change in leadership staff, we brought on some amazing people with great vision and new energies. We saw our programming grow in early childhood education, youth sports, day camp and after school. Our mission continued to strengthen as we continued to grow our annual support campaign, assuring that no one was turned away from Y programs and membership. In its essence, the Ys love and care for members, we had an awesome year - one we can all be proud of.

This annual report will share ALL of 2014, both the highlights as well as the difficulties.

This year, you can be sure that we will solidify the changes behind the scenes and grow in our service and support to you, our members. As always, it is my honor to be your director and of service to those in our five valleys. Stop by and visit if youd like to further help the Y move forward, if you have any questions, or just to say hello.

Camp Imagination expanded from 30 campers to 40 last summer. This camp is state-licensed, giving families the opportunity to apply for scholarships through the Montana Best Beginnings Program. This is the only state licensed camp offered in the Greater Missoula area. This camp had its genesis in 2009, in an effort to prevent summer learning loss. We expect an increase from 40 Imagination campers to 60 campers this year.

These numbers are significantly lower than the national averages, and wed like to keep them that way!
