Transcript of Missionary Presentation

  • 1. Missionary Night Prepared byAdrian & Cheri Ramirez Missionaries to Mexico and Central America(1983 2007) Furlough (2008-2009)

2. Missionary?

  • Sometimes we think of the missionaries from the stories we read from many years ago or maybe missionaries who work with people who live in the jungle. (missionaries to Rahajamundi in 1902 and Steven Saint in Ecuador)
  • Its true all around the world there are many different ways of life some modern and some not and missionaries often run into both.

3. The Church

  • Sometimes we think of the church, even starting churches and Bible study meetings. Missionaries do that too.
  • But theres more to it than that.

4. So lets learn about missionaries . . . Jesus said -Go ye into all the World, and preach the gospel to every creature.Mark 16:15 5. If you go into all the world you see things that are different from home. Volcanoes and mountain lakes are all around Central America Guatemala has at least 47 volcanoes and many are active. 6. 7. 8. 9. People get around differently Most people walk or ride a bus everywhere they need to go. 10. 11. 12. Maybe they take a taxiYep! Both of these red vehicles are taxis. 13. 14. Moms often buy food at market. 15. 16. Women carry things home on top of their head. 17. Some women still have to carry water to their homes this way. 18. Many kids work every day to help their families. 19. These big sisters carry their little brothers and care for them . 20. Many children never go to school. Thisboy and many likehim walk the streets every day to sell newspapers orwash windshields to earn a fewpennies to buy food. 21. People do things differently - some can really be dangerous. 22. This farmer packed on all these chickens to go to market. 23. Even the bathrooms can be very different! 24. Lots of days are just regular ordinary days.

  • Playing at the park and a view of our house in Guatemala.

25. Sometimes its an adventure where you sleep and what you eat. 26. Sometimes things break down and its not so easy to fix them. 27. Its all just a bit different 28. 29. Jesus said As My Father hath sent Me, even so send I you John 20:21 30. Here is Mr. Ramirez

  • Look him over.
  • Can you see what makes him a missionary?
  • Yep! Youre right he is a regular person nothing different shows on the outside.

31. Here is Mr. Ramirez in Guatemala. Did travelling to Guatemala make Mr. Ramirez a missionary? 32. Now you know a secret!

  • Being a missionary is something of the heart!
  • You dont have to be a special person or travel to a special place or have special super skills or wear a special uniform.
  • You just have to look at the world the way Jesus did.

33. Did you know?

  • DL Moody said: The only Bible most people will ever read is the one bound in shoe leather.

34. His Part Our Part 2 volunteers please look up and read to us these verses.

  • John 3:16
  • I John 3:16

35. Your heart is where being a missionary starts. . .

  • Give me your eyes for just one second
  • Give me your eyes so I can see Everything I keep missing, give me your love for humanity
  • Give me your arms for the broken hearted
  • The ones that are far beyond my reach
  • Give me your heart for the ones forgotten
  • Give me your eyes so I can see.

36. What jobs can a missionary do? Visit schools & hospitalsto tell the kids about Jesus Give Bible classes tocollegestudents & pray forpeople in their homes 37. Helping people with what they need can open the door to telling them about Jesus. 38. 2,000 people came to our Valentines Day meals they also heard about Jesus 39. These children came to our Christmas program with the story of Jesus told by puppets, then they had gifts and treats. 40. More things a missionary can do Many places need to befixed & even a busy man canhave a Bible class in his office. People that need Jesus can be found anywhere even in the park or on the street. 41. Where do missionaries go? Anywhere 42. Who needs a missionary? Anyone! If a persondoesnt know Jesus they need someone to tell them about His gift ofSalvation.
