Neighborhood News
Lakemont
We enjoyed the holidays from the carolers and the Variety
Show to the additional visitors! Thank you all!
The Lakemont neighborhood invited the Omaha Dancing
Grannies to perform at the Jan. 19th Happy Hour. We also
served a large variety of dips for everyone to enjoy.
Thank you to our nurse Katevia! She made BBQ Ribs Christmas
Eve for the entire neighborhood and staff.
It was delicious!
Reliance
The Reliance Christmas Open House was another success. Many Christmas goodies were enjoyed.
Our neighborhood enjoyed lunch from Rezac’s recently. Everyone
was able to order their choice from the menu. Of course, dessert was
Rezac’s pie!
We welcomed Kim Bass to Reliance Housekeeping from
Laundry! David Markle joined Laundry from Reliance
Housekeeping.
Alden
Did you know there is a “National” day for about
anything you can think of? On Alden we’ve been having fun
with the “National” days.
For “National Squirrel Appreciation Day” we shelled
peanuts! We made snowflakes and decorated our neighborhood
with them for “National Snowflake Day”. “National
Spaghetti Day” was very tasty as we had spaghetti for
lunch.
Sheridan
Something unusual has happened on Sheridan! The men outnumber the women
almost 2 to 1.
Sheridan has been hosting Creative Colors. The colorful
results are simply amazing!
We survived the January Ice Storm of 2017 with flying
colors.
Lauritzen Gardens in Omaha was the destination for South Haven residents during the holidays. They were able to enjoy the poinsettia tree and many other plants in the atrium. Pictured are Marie Bouc, Wilma Yeager, Juanita Shanahan, Gladyce Nielson, Marilyn Hageman, & Agnes Poskochil.
In Memory…
In this difficult time
when we’ve lost
someone we’ve
held so close,
the employees of
South Haven would
like to convey their
heartfelt sympathy.

Meet Our New Administrator!
We are pleased to announce that Kathie O’Dell has accepted the position of Administrator at South Haven in Wahoo, NE.
Kathie is no stranger to long term care or Vetter Health Services. Kathie joined Anna Sundermann home (which is now Ridgewood Rehabilitation and Care Center) in 1991 doing scheduling and purchasing. She earned her RN in 2009 and became a Registered Nurse both at Ridgewood and Memorial Health Care Systems Acute Care and Assisted Living. Currently Kathie is working as the Staff Development Coordinator at Ridgewood.
Kathie is a third generation nurse. Her grandmother became a nurse in 1909 and her mom was a DON at the local hospital and then at the long term care facility in Hardin, Montana where Kathie grew up. Kathie’s mom was notorious for volunteering Kathie and her two sisters at the nursing home, so Kathie was blessed to be able to grow up in long term care. Kathie’s dad was a sugar beet driver and taught her how to fish which she still loves to do today. After graduating from high school, Kathie attended Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska where she met her husband Brian, who was born and raised in Seward.
Kathie and Brian have two children, Brandon, who went to UNL and played in the marching band, and still works in Seward. And Kaylee, who is a freshman honors student at UNO and wants to be a CPA.
In Kathie’s spare time she loves to read, camp, boat, fish, quilt and travel.
Kathie will officially join the South Haven team on February 13, 2017. Please help us in congratulating Kathie on her new role!
Family Council will meet
Wednesday, February 15th at 5:00.
You will be able to meet Kathie O’Dell, our new Administrator!
For residents attending with their family members, a light
supper will be served.
Attention Medicaid Family Members:
Anyone who signed up and received the new Insurance cards through Heritage Health, please bring in a copy to the Business Office.
The three plans are Nebraska Total Care, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Nebraska and WellCare of Nebraska. Please make sure the information on the card is correct.
It is my understanding that all three plans have errors on the cards, such as the wrong Doctor. If you find that something is wrong, you must call and have the information corrected.
Providers are beginning to call and request those plan numbers, so we need to get those new plans in our system. If you have any questions, please call Lois at 402-443-3737.
