ENTIRENET ANNOUNCES WINNER OF 2014 COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD Sr. Instructional Designer, Kathy Boyd, Wins Entirenet’s Community Service Award for a Second Time BELLEVUE, WA. 24 FEB, 2014 – Entirenet is proud to announce Kathy Boyd as this quarter’s winner of its Community Service Award. Kathy has been with Entirenet since 2003, and is a senior instructional designer for the company. The award program, which began last year, honors and recognizes Entirenet employees for outstanding volunteerism and contributions that make the world a better place to live and work in. All nominees must have participated in, and personally contributed to, a community program or cause that has resulted in particular benefit to individuals, groups, or the community. Kathy received the award just as she returned from an annual weeklong mission trip to Belize with members of her church, Calvary Chapel North Bend. Each year, the pastor at Port Loyola Calvary Chapel in Belize, chooses one person to receive a newly built home. Additionally, the church aids the community by helping pay for school tuition, uniforms, and supplies for girls staying at Strong Tower. During her time in Belize, Kathy has developed particularly meaningful relationships with the women in Belize attending PLCC and with the three teenage girls who live in Strong Tower, a home for teens who have been physically or sexually abused. When asked why the annual mission trip is so important to her, Kathy said, “I want to continue building those relationships with the people in Belize. Even though I have never personally experienced some of the same things the girls at Strong Tower have gone through, we all have hard things in life that we have dealt with. It doesn’t matter where you live, we all struggle with something and if I can share my trials and struggles, it makes me more approachable and real. That alone makes the whole trip and I am blessed to be able to go.” Since the company’s inception, Entirenet has been committed to social responsibility. Implementing the Community Service Award program seemed like a natural next step to CEO Jack Showalter. “The Entirenet Vision Statement includes five core concepts, one of which is to ‘Embrace our ability to make a positive impact in the community,’” Showalter said. “Recognizing our colleagues who help us reach that vision helps move this goal from just a statement to actions that we all celebrate. Kathy is a great example of helping make our vision a reality.” Every quarter, employees submit nominees to HR, and management selects the winner based on criteria pertaining to community involvement. Although the program is still new, its impact at Entirenet was immediate, and is one of the most popular and meaningful quarterly events. The award will continue to foster an environment that supports community involvement.
