Introduction

Greetings to all supporters and friends of Mission to Haiti Canada, we are pleased to be able to send you this communication to provide an update on past, present and future events. During the summer we hosted the 7th annual fundraiser golf tournament, Pastor Charles Amicy visited Ontario in September, and we will be travelling to Haiti in January with another short-term mission team. Pastor Charles Visits Ontario

Pastor Charles Amicy came to Ontario this past September to visit some of his Canadian friends and supporters of his ministry and mission campus in Haiti. His 8 day whirlwind visit was filled with visits to local churches in the Cambridge and Woodstock areas. Charles had the opportunity to preach, share his powerful testimony and make new friends while visiting here. Many of his existing friends drove from miles around to come for a visit with the frequently smiling pastor. Part of Charles’ desire is to make people aware of the current operating costs of his ongoing ministry and orphanage. If you feel God calling you to help support this cause, you can send a cheque marked “orphanage” or “ministry” and your funds will be appropriately directed and a receipt sent to you. Please pray for Pastor Charles and the people of Haiti.

Child Sponsorship

The child sponsorship program continues to be a successful initiative to educate the children of Haiti. As a result of your generous support there are currently 165 children being sent to school as your donations pay for their tuition, books, school uniform and in most cases a nutritious meal. The children are truly the future of Haiti and without an education their future would be much bleaker given the high rate of unemployment in this country. As in other years you have the opportunity to send a gift box to your sponsor child; alternatively if you don’t have a sponsor child but would like a child to receive a gift you can also send one with us. Specific boxes are provided to hold your gifts so that we can efficiently transport them to Haiti. Please note that gifts that are not in these boxes may not make it to Haiti on this trip. There is a list available with items suggested to include and what not to include. All boxes must be received by January 10, 2010 or they will not make it on this trip. Thanks to all who make this child sponsorship program work so effectively; it takes many hours of volunteered time to administer this program and as a result every cent of your money ends up being used for the children. We ask that your would pray that this program can continue to grow and serve the children of Haiti.

Mission Trip in JanuaryThere is an opportunity to serve on a short-term mission trip to Haiti in January 2010! There are still a few places remaining to be filled on this trip which is scheduled for January 18-29, 2010. If you are interested in attending this year, now is the time to make your commitment as MTH Canada will not be organizing any other trips in 2010; the cost for the trip is currently $1600 per person (Cdn). If you would like more information or a team application you can visit our website or contact Bill DeJong. We anticipate undertaking a number of construction projects, performing health assessments and treatments with qualified health personnel, food distribution, and child sponsorship administration. Please prayerfully consider if God is calling you to serve on our team; we appreciate your prayer support year round and specifically for safety while we are in the mission field.
