The Salvation Army Bible Correspondence
Courses
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the
universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach
the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without
discrimination
Mission Statement
There are at least two good reasons Why Salvationists are concerned with people in prison and their families. One, it is the expectation of our Lord Jesus Christ; and two, it was the vision of our founder. William Booth, had a deep sympathy and Compassion for people paying the penalty for law violation by serving time in prison. In his book, In Darkest England and the Way Out he proposed methods whereby prisoners might be helped and brought to knowledge of God's salvation. Near the end of his own ministry, he continued this emphasis on helping the most desperate:
"While women weep as they do now, I'll fight;
While little children go hungry as they do now, I'll fight,
While men go to prison, in and out, in and out, as they do now, I'll fight
I'll fight to the very end!"

The Salvation Army’s Bible Correspondence
Lessons are available to all incarcerated
persons. For many, the lessons offer new
understandings and form the base for
developing a spiritual motivation for their
lives. Those receiving the lessons learn to
study the Bible teachings and apply them in
a practical way. This program and the
studies given are designed to guide the
reader through the teaching in a
fundamental approach. The lessons are
mailed in and graded by volunteers for the
Salvation Army.
