U na Nota del Padre Kelly ¡La palabra de hoy es AGRADECIMIENTO! En

medio de las preocupaciones y problemas que aquejan a este mundo, a veces podemos perder de vista todas las bendiciones que Dios nos regala día a día. El 1.º de octubre fue el primer día “oficial” del retiro de Theresa Shipsey. Como miembro de esta parroquia de toda la vida, Theresa fue voluntaria durante muchos años antes de convertirse en empleada. Durante los últimos 47 años, Theresa ha ofrecido sus dones, talentos y tiempo a la Misión de San Luis Obispo sirviendo en un varios puestos y ministerios. Las palabras nunca podrán expresar la gratitud que tenemos por todo lo que ella ha hecho para ayudar a construir el Cuerpo de Cristo aquí en nuestra parroquia. ¡Te estamos muy agradecidos, Theresa! ¡Gracias! Sin embargo, la mejor noticia es que Theresa continuará viniendo a colaborar con nosotros como voluntaria en la oficina parroquial en un horario “que a ella le acomode”, y continuará haciendo muchas de sus labores ... nuevamente, ¡estoy muy agradecido! ¡Muchisimas gracias! A Word from Fr. Kelly Today’s word is GRATITUDE! In the midst

of the cares and concerns of the world we can often times lose sight of all of the blessings God bestows upon us on a daily basis. October 1st was the first day of “official” retirement for Theresa Shipsey. As a life-long member of this parish, Theresa volunteered for many years prior to becoming an employee of the parish. Now, for the past 47 years Theresa has offered her gifts, her talents, and her time to Old Mission San Luis Obispo serving in a variety of roles and ministries. Words will never express the gratitude we have for all that she has done to help build the Body of Christ here in our parish. We are indeed very grateful, Theresa! Thank you! The best news, however, is that Theresa will continue on a “come-as-she-wants” schedule to volunteer in our parish office doing many of the same things she has been doing…again, I am very grateful! Thank you! May retirement be filled with abundant blessings as you have abundantly blessed our parish. Also, I am so incredibly grateful to the nearly 180 people who have generously offered to share gifts of time and talent from our Stewardship Sunday appeal! There is a love of our parish and a true desire to help our parish continue being a positive light in our city and in our diocese. You are all very gifted people and have so much to offer to one another. Thank you for sharing what God has given you with all of us! We are – I am – very GRATEFUL!

Ways to grow your children in faith while at the store. (This continued series is from Making Faith Fun by Amy Viets, ACTA Publishing).While you wait. (This next series is ideas for all those times of waiting – in

line at the grocery store, in the waiting room at the doctor’s office, at sports practice…)

Your child’s bag of tricks – older children don’t need a diaper bag but you might find a small backpack with instant activities to be helpful. Include some that are faith based, like a non breakable Noah’s ark set or nativity scene, or Bible storybooks. You can take turns telling each other the story using the props.

We do not meet for FFF today. This Sunday is our first of six retreats for children in their second year of preparation for First Eucharist. We meet at 10 am in the parish hall.Hoy no tenemos clases. Mix the leftovers into a sauce and put in

the crepe. Fold over the edges and place in a casserole dish, cover with extra sauce and cook at 350 degrees for 10 min. Enjoy!Una serie sobre el reciclaje. Tomada de Re/Uses de Carolyn Jabs. As always there is no shortage of whimsical nativity scenes. These are very popular all year round. Our ceramic folk art from Peru has been doing very well. We have added a nice representation of Day of the Dead. The artisans take pride in sharing their unique art and culture. Many collectors are impressed with our eclectic mix of handcrafted gifts.If you are traveling we hope you will enjoy your visit to our beautiful Mission. We are open 7 days a week, from 9-5. Meeting report: The Holy Spirit was present and active at our Social Justice meeting 10/1. We now have a name for our new project,

“Open Hearts, Helping Hands”. Our goal will be providing loving outreach to members of our parish community who might be in need of small acts of assistance. We will be seeking both parishioners in need and volunteers to meet those needs. We will do this by word of mouth, publicity in our bulletin and through information cards available soon at the masses. We believe we are being called to encourage community through loving service.
