Miss Sydney Chinese Pageant 2013
TVB red-hot artistes Ruco Chan, Jason Chan, Kate Tsui and Sarah Song
arrived at Sydney to support the beauty contest
(Hong Kong – 17 July 2013) Organized by TVB Australia (TVBA), “Miss Sydney Chinese
Pageant 2013” was held successfully at The Star Event Centre at Sydney on 14 July. This year,
adopting the theme of “Let’s join together in the dawn of the beauty revolution”, 12 contestants
competed against each other in pursuit of the crown and their dreams. TVB artistes Ruco Chan,
Jason Chan, Kate Tsui and Sarah Song arrived at Sydney on 12 July for participating in the
pageant and a series of publicity events.
The artistes firstly announced the beauty pageant and met the media and sponsors in “Miss Sydney
Chinese Pageant 2013” Press Conference on 12 July. This year, Jason Chan and Sarah Song were
invited to be the hosts of the contest. The 12 beauties commenced the beauty pageant by unfolding
their charm and beauty in several costumes, including the glamorous wedding gown, evening gown
and qipao, to name but a few. To heat up the atmosphere, they further performed with 60 dancers an
energetic dance!
Ruco Chan and Kate Tsui were invited to demonstrated their vocal talents by performing several
songs, including the theme song of Reality Check, “小草”, “忘記歌詞”, “我的歌聲裡” and
“Drenched”. They were further entrusted to being one of the panel of judges, which they had to
screen the contestants and selected the next Miss Sydney Chinese Pageant. Ruco Chan was further
entrusted with the duty of host during the swimming suit Q&A session. He, Jason Chan and Sarah
Song tested the beauties’ eloquence by posting a multitude of professional and challenging questions.
The contestants tackled each question by their wisdom and full effort as to impress the judges for
being the 6 finalists. In the final round, the 6 finalists further showcased their distinguished talents by
their splendid performances to impress the judges, including dancing, Chinese painting and reciting
Chinese poetry.
After series of tough challenges, the result was finally announced: No.7 Phyllis Dai, by her stunning beauty
and confidence, was crowned the “Miss Sydney Chinese Pageant 2013” and “Miss Photogenic”. No. 3,
Annie Liu won “first-runner up”. The “second runner-up” went to No.1, Monika Lee in claps and
cheers. She further received the title “Miss Charity”. Wearing a sweet smile, No.11 Edith Chow was
voted as “Miss Congeniality”.
Meanwhile, the TVB artistes attended a series of publicity events from 12 July to 15 July as well.
They were interviewed by the Australian press and took part in the ribbon cutting ceremony of
TVBA Vietnamese channel customer service centre in Cabramatta. They signed autographs in
the event and received a very warm welcome from the audiences there. Eventually, the success “Miss
Sydney Chinese Pageant 2013” and the ribbon cutting ceremony had drawn a harmonious close to
the series of publicity events held in Australia.
