Formal Wear Judges will be scoring on age appropriateness of gown, stage presentation (walk, posture, grace, and modeling); personality and stage presence and overall appearance. Full make-up is allowed but a judge may deduct points if that judge feels the make-up is not age appropriate or too heavy.

Opening Number (Casual Wear) All contestants will participate in an opening dance number. The dance and casual wear will not be judged therefore, training is not needed. This year’s theme is FROZEN. Each contestant should wear casual clothing appropriate for cold “frozen” weather.

Example: Mittens, scarves, hats, etc. All attire should be age appropriate and easy taken off/on. Flat shoes should be worn.

Interview (High School Contestants Only) All high school contestants will participate in a panel style interview with the judges.

High School contestants should wear Business Casual that reflects their personal style.

Interviews will be scheduled the morning of the pageant (10/1/2016), beginning at 10:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m.

Interviews will last approximately 10 minutes.

Interview score will count as 50% towards total score.

Rules and Release Information

1. Miss Parkwood Pageant contestants must live within the Parkwood Community.

2. The Young Signature Princess and Signature Princess title will be awarded in each division to the contestant raising the most funds for signatures. This title may be awarded in conjunction with any other title it has no bearing on the pageant outcome.

3. Judge’s decisions are final. Judges with formal pageant experience will be brought in from outside Union

County. Talking with the judges before, during, or after the pageant is prohibited. If any family, friend, or the contestant herself is caught violating this rule, the contestant will be disqualified and forfeiture of any and all awards received.

4. All registration/entry fees are nonrefundable and nontransferable.

5. Raising financial support beyond the requirement fees is strictly optional. At no time will the judges know who

raised any funds beyond that until it is announced on stage during the awards ceremony.

6. Contestants and their parents will not slander or libel other contestants, judges, Miss Parkwood Pageant, Miss Parkwood Pageant directors, Parkwood High School, or anyone else involved with the pageant. Defamatory verbal and/or written remarks will result in immediate disqualification and forfeiture of any and all prizes and awards. Any contestant found publicly posting slanderous or derogatory remarks on public forums will be immediately disqualified.

7. Contestants will conduct themselves in a courteous, professional manner at all times during the Miss Parkwood

Pageant and practices and while representing any of the Miss Parkwood titles.

8. Permission is granted to Miss Parkwood Pageant and Parkwood High School to use, reproduce, and/or publish photographs and/or video that may pertain to contestants-including images, likeness, and/or voice without compensation.

Registration, Rules and Requirements Acknowledgment As the parents/legal guardian of the participant named below, or as the participant, I do hereby agree to abide by the rules and regulations as set forth by the Miss Parkwood Pageant as listed in the Miss Parkwood Pageant 2016 information packet. I agree to hold the Miss Parkwood Pageant directors, Parkwood High School, and volunteers harmless of any damages or liabilities due to theft, accident, or injury during or resulting from my child’s or my participation in the pageant. I understand and agree that should an act of God (tornado, fire, or other act of nature) cause the cancellation of the pageant, that said pageant will be cancelled without benefit of refund; however, the pageant will be rescheduled at another time and location. I understand that the judges’ decisions are final. I understand that good sportsmanship is required at all times. This includes the contestants, parents, and/or guests. I understand that failure to show good sportsmanship will result in disqualification of the contestant without refund and forfeiture of any awards received. I agree and understand that all fees are nonrefundable and nontransferable. I release my image and agree and give my permission to the Miss Parkwood Pageant and Parkwood High School to use any and all photographs and or videotapes for publicity purposes on their website, Facebook pages, advertisements, or any material. Pageant Schedule

High School Interviews: October 1, 2016, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

o Contestants should arrive 15 minutes prior to their scheduled interview time. Interview times will be given out at the final rehearsal.

Little Miss Pageant: 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Miss Parkwood Pageant: 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Schedule is subject to change based on number of contestants.

Dressing Rooms

Little Miss Parkwood dressing rooms will open at 1 p.m. All contestants should arrive dressed in their opening number attire and checked in no later than 1:30 p.m.

Miss Parkwood dressing rooms will open at 5 p.m. All contestants should arrive dressed in their opening number attire and checked in no later than 5:30 p.m.

At no time will males be allowed in the dressing room area.

One parent, guardian, or helper may accompany contestants to the dressing room to unload items; however this person will need to leave backstage and enter with their ticket and have a seat in the audience.

Except for the Little Miss divisions, no one, other than the contestant and pageant committee workers may remain in the dressing rooms during the pageant.

No personal hairdresser, make-up artist, coaches/trainers, etc. will be allowed into the dressing rooms.

Tickets

Tickets are $6 each. Children 5 and under are free.

o Get $1 off admission with can food donation at door!

Tickets are available to pre-order and will be sold at the door.

Tickets are good for one show only.

Cash ONLY will be accepted at the door

Pre-sold tickets will be distributed at final rehearsal.

Program Books

All contestants can sell Family and Friends and Business Sponsorships!

Sponsorship Ads may be sold as a full page, half page, quarter page, or business card ad size and combined into one full page.

Ads may be a Business ad or a Good Luck page from friends and family.

Program book ad pages and fees are due no later than September 15, 2016.

Email your 8-1/2 x 11, high resolution ad in camera ready JPG format to [email protected].

Please remember to put contestant name and division in subject line.

No ad will be printed without payment.

Programs are in Black and White. No color.

o All Miss Parkwood Pageant winners are asked to attend the Union County Christmas Parade, Downtown Monroe. Additional information will be emailed closer to date.

o Junior Miss Parkwood and Miss Parkwood will participate in one service project and two appearances as informed by Coach Jamey Harlow. Both overall winners will be asked to crown the winners at the following year’s pageant.

Young Rebel Heart and Rebel Heart o The Rebel Heart award is one where the contestants vote for the contestant that shows her true Rebel Heart. A Rebel Heart is

one that shows her Parkwood Spirit and Pride, through kindness, willingness to help others and most importantly – School Spirit!

o Voting will be on September 29, 2016, the final pageant rehearsal. o Winners are awarded at pageant and receive: sash, tiara, and gift

Fundraising Titles All contestants have the opportunity to help raise financial support beyond pageant entry fees for the Parkwood High School Cheerleading Program through program ad sales, signatures and/or donations from businesses, family, and friends. There are three levels of awards for contestants who help raise funds. These awards CAN be awarded in conjunction with all Miss Parkwood titles. Judges will not be made aware of contestant vying for support titles.

Young Signature Princess (Little Miss Parkwood) and Signature Princess (Miss Parkwood )

o The contestant in each division who gathers the most signatures and raises the most financial support through businesses, family, and friends for signatures will be crowned Young Signature Princess (Little Miss Parkwood) and Signature Princess (Miss

Parkwood).

o All Signatures and Funds must be turned in September 29, 2016, the final pageant rehearsal. Signature Donations

o Winners are awarded at pageant and receive: sash, tiara, and gift Each Signature Donation is $1.00. Signatures and funds are gathered using the Signature Donation Form.

All Good Luck Shout-Outs must be turned in on September 19, 2016. Please record your donations and Good Luck Wish/Shout Outs on the Good Luck Wish/Shout Out Form. Each one line Good Luck Shout Out is $5.00.

Sponsorship Guidelines We encourage each contestant to sell Good Luck Ads and get sponsorships for the Miss Parkwood Pageant. Businesses, parents, grandparents, teachers, and friends can show their support for their contestant by purchasing a Good Luck ad. The ads will be featured in our Miss Parkwood Pageant 2016 Program and ads sold will go towards all Sweetheart funds. The ads will be sold as follows:

All ads will be in black and white. No Color!

All full page ads must be 8.5” x 11” with a .25” bleed on all sides.

All ads must be at least 300 dpi resolution.

All ads must be saved as a JPG file.

All ads must be print ready.

Proofread your ads carefully as they will be printed exactly as submitted.
