March 17, 2012
Welcome all to the first Miss Greater Rockville Scholarship Pageant.
We are delighted to bring you this exciting event. All of our contestants have an opportunity to compete and hope to attain the next level of achievement which is Miss Connecticut. This year’s Miss Connecticut then goes on to the Miss America pageant!
The Miss Connecticut Scholarship Corporation awards scholarships to outstanding young women to help advance them academically and professionally. The Miss Connecticut Pageant is an official preliminary of the Miss America Pageant, the nation's leading achievement program and the world's largest provider of scholarship assistance to young women.
For its first year here in Vernon-Rockville, we were astonished by the number of volunteers and sponsors that turned out to support this event. It is clearly evident how anxious residents and businesses are to show their pride and support of our communities and the young people who live here.
We must also thank and acknowledge our generous sponsors listed throughout the pages of this program. For without them this pageant would not have become the reality that it is. We urge you to thank and support them as well.
We hope you enjoy today’s event as much as we’ve enjoyed producing it. And hey, why not consider becoming an active member of the Rockville Community Alliance? Contact information can be found throughout this booklet.
Thank you!

Marcy K. KellyMarcy has dual citizenship – she was born in Hartford and currently lives in Vernon, but is active in both Hartford and Vernon communities and maintains a business in both communi-ties. While in high school she had a part time job with C.R.R.A and took business classes; that helped her decided that she wanted to own her own business after graduation.
After graduation she continued to work with C.R.R.A. and also worked third shift full time at the Post Office. She saved her earnings and purchased her first business, a beauty salon, Mar-cy’s House of Beauty, which has been operating for fifteen years. In 2006 she decided to buy a vacant building on the outskirts of downtown Hartford with the goal of opening a restaurant
and lounge, Club Charisma. Because of the economic situation it was quite difficult to establish a new business on the outskirts of downtown Hartford. It is her desire to completely redesign the current facility and bring it into the millen-nium that is both environmentally and user friendly.
Marcy holds holiday parties for local youth and toy drives for different non-profit organizations annually, as well as con-tinually donating time and items to the Big Brother program, Mercy House Shelter, Girl Scouts and Union Congregational Church. She continues to build on her knowledge base by reaching out to other business owners for mentors, taking classes, and attending lectures. She is a goal oriented person with the desire to make an impact on the communities that she serves.
