This year marks another exciting year for the Northwest International Pageants Organization as we celebrate the addition of Miss Washington International to our pageant family!

The extension of our organization to Miss Washington International is so exciting! The dynamic that these incredible young women bring to the organization breathes fresh air into our program. Also, as winners of “Directors of the Year” at the 2014 Mrs. International Pageant, we know we are doing a lot of things right here in Washington State. As we continue to grow, embrace technology to connect with our community, supporter, sponsors and advertisers, we can continue to believe that the future of our organization remains bright…

As I reflect upon or Organization year after year, my see that my life is made richer by the individuals in this organization:

Dr. Erik Suh, our Executive Director, is more than a partner in creating this pageant., he is my cherished friend. Beyond that, he is a father, husband and incredible health provider for his patients at Suh Esthetics and Eastside Primary Care and Wellness. Each year he gives his very limited time to this program AND the titleholders as our Title Sponsor. Of course, I must thank your lovely and hilarious wife, Minnie Suh, who without her support we would not be on this crazy ride together!

Misook Voss, our event coordinator, is the master of getting things done. People say, “Give a task to the busiest person you know... they will get it done”. That’s Misook! She embodies excellence is every thing she does. This pageant would not be the same without her efforts.

Jennifer McClane, Mrs. Washington International 2014, has had an outstanding year. After a 20 year absence from pageantry, she has worn the crown with distinction and, better yet, personality! She has come to my aid many times without hesitation. Thank you so much for your dedication, passion and, most of all, sense of humor. I had a wonderful time supporting you and Taryn at Mrs. International- especially our nightly “debriefs” which usually meant a glass of wine and a ton of laughs. Jenn, you worked very hard this year and we all appreciate what you have done- you will be missed, but don’t doubt you will continue to serve the Organization.

Taryn Stastny, Mrs. Oregon International 2014 will be forever known for her amazing “Disco Ball” gown. I remember at last year’s pageant hearing the guys in the tech booth go absolutely nuts when she took the stage in her evening gown. She had the same reaction at Mrs. International where she represented Oregon beautifully. You have such poise and presence… you wore the crown with grace. While you expand your family this year, we are so proud to have you in our pageant family!

Laura Hunter, Mrs. Washington International 2011, makes our graphic design templates and all the contestants look incredible! As our pageant Graphic Artist and Photography Sponsor her talents are second to none. Her continued involvement year after year in creating beautiful images makes us look good too!

The 2015 Contestants, you have all worked hard to demonstrate that you are ready for “the job”. We are excited for our future since you have helped us to build it. Congrats on your courage, determination and what we know will be a wonderful show!

Cassandra Searles is a 26 year old commercial banker and soon to be law student! Cassandra has competed in various pageants within the Miss America and Miss Universe Organizations. After competing 4 times for the title, Cassandra was crowned Miss Washington U.S.A in 2012 allowing her to compete in the 2013 Miss USA Pageant. Now that she has retired from competing in pageants, Cassandra has taken a behind the scenes role as the Executive Producer for the Miss Seattle Scholarship Pageant, and production assistant for Miss Washington’s Outstanding Teen. Gary Umemoto is a lifelong resident of Washington State and a Business Administration graduate of Central Washington University. He is the Chief Operating Officer for Assessment & Treatment Associates of Bellevue Washington and oversees 6 Offices in Washington State. Gary has been a volunteer for the Miss America Organization since 2008 thanks to his daughter Elyse, who was Miss Washington 2007 and 2nd runner up to Miss America 2008! Passionate about volunteering, Gary has judged many Washington local pageants as well as local pageants in Nebraska, Oregon and Hawaii, and is the Executive Director of the Miss Washington Outstanding Teen Pageant. Gary and his partner Jay Gleason were honored to be awarded the 2012 Volunteers of the Year by the Miss Washington Scholarship Organization. Gary and Jay, make their home on Mercer Island Washington.

Tanya Barrans is an Account Di rector for a global telecommunications company. She has been in the industry for over 10 years with roles in sales management, sales training, account management, and account acquisition positions. Tanya also runs a successful home based business with her husband. They partner with people to help them achieve their health, fitness and financial goals.

Tanya has been a member of local chambers, Seattle rotary, and a volunteer at many different organizations. With a big heart for foster children, homeless youth, and struggling teens, her dream is to someday open up a dream center in Seattle to give teens a safe place to hangout and learn skills to help them be successful adults.

Married a year and half ago, Tanya was blessed to become Step-mother to three beautiful children ranging from ages 6-11. She loves being a wife and a mother. As a family they enjoy baking, cooking, and gardening. Tanya is very excited and honored to be a part of the Washington International Pageant!

Stefanie is a proud 20 year veteran of the pageant industry. Stefanie's proudest achievement through pageantry is the opportunity that was forged for her to pay her way through college using the scholarship monies won from competing in the Miss America Scholarship Program earning over $25,000. Stefanie is a proud alumni of Central Washington University, where she earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in Public Relations and Pre-Law before also earning a Master’s Degree in Communications and Leadership (as well as certifications in Intercultural Communications and Global Storytelling) from Gonzaga University in 2014.

Stefanie currently works as a Social Media Marketing Manager for Microsoft Windows. She is a die hard hockey fan and a dedicated member of the 12th man. When not working you can find her planning her fairy tale wedding (taking place in November), talking about her next trip around the world, or running her independent jewelry and accessories company- Legacy Designs.

Dr. Hydzik earned her bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences with an emphasis in Psychology from the University of Southern California. For the next year she worked at a non-profit in Chicago that served people struggling with mental illness and homelessness. During that time she decided that she needed a medical degree so she could help people on a deeper level. She studied naturopathic medicine and midwifery at the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR and received both a doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and a Certificate in Naturopathic Midwifery. She continued her midwifery training in Bali at a birth center called Bumi Sehat where she helped deliver babies and provide prenatal and postpartum care.

To further her education, Dr. Hydzik completed a residency in primary care in Tacoma, Washington. Now she is very happy to provide primary care services, well checks, and women’s annual exams for patients at Eastside Primary Care and Wellness. Dr. Hydzik’s approach often involves helping patients improve their nutrition and physical activity level to treat a variety of concerns. She recommends botanical medicines and supplements when needed and prescribes medications allowed under the naturopathic formulary in Washington. She sees patients for digestive health, thyroid disorders, menopausal symptoms, hormone imbalances, fatigue, anxiety and depression, sleep issues, and for help with weight loss. She is able to prescribe bioidentical hormones and HCG.

Dr. Hydzik enjoys social dancing, running – sometimes in marathons, hiking, biking to work, cooking and attending stand-up comedy performances.

As a musician, composer and actor, Van Cooper has lived and worked in some of the most exciting cities in the country. Post University of Washington, Cooper worked as an actor and director in Seattle. He next found work in Los Angeles and San Francisco – acting, composing music and performing for KCET Studios, as well as working with an educational theatre group which performed in local schools. Fantastic career opportunities took Cooper to New York, where he composed and recorded music for the State of New York, commercials and a short film. Additional acting and voice-over work followed. During this time Cooper taught music, drama and film at a private boarding school. Performing for returning Gulf War soldiers on the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid in New York City was one of the proudest moments of Cooper’s personal and professional life.

Since returning to the Seattle area, Cooper has composed and recorded a full symphony, and a jazz-influenced holiday album. He is currently working on an album with a Vegas show theme, and is involved in video and photographic productions.
