Miser’s WealthKanji was a rich businessman, he made a lot of money but he never spent it, he was a great miser.

Since he lives in a small village it was not safe for him to keep all the money in house. After a lot of thinking he decided to bury the money underground.

There was a tree in his backyard. He then took a pot, put all his money in it, cover it with a piece of cloth. He then dug a deep hole under the tree and buried his pot there. He was worried that someone might steal his buried wealth so, every night he goes to backyard, took out the pot ,count his money and then go to sleep peacefully.

Kanji had a neighbour who was suspicious by nature. He thinks, “Kanji goes to backward every night , digs the ground; why does he do this?” He then decided to keep a close watch on Kanji, he hid himself behind the tree and watched everything.

The next day when Kanji was away, the neighbor went to backyard, dugs the ground took out the pot, remove all

the money and then filled the pot with pebbles. He leveled the ground and went away.

After neighbor had finished his job, kanji as usual came to count the money. He was shocked to find pebbles in it. He started crying loudly. Hearing his cries, all the neighbor gathered around him. They found it difficult to console and pacify Kanji.

Meanwhile village headman also came there .He listened Kanji’s story and advice him, “please don’t cry, you have lost nothing the thief has kept pebbles for you to count, you can continue your counting. You need money only to count , you were not using it.”

“If money is not put to good use, it is no better than mere pebbles.”
