Mise en scene

Mise- en-scene means something put in a scene and it consists of prop, costume and lightning. This will helps us in terms of picking up props for the actors. We will pick different clothes for each actor for a reason. For example, the two main protagonists ‘Daniella Benson’ will wear pink because she’s a girl and ‘Dwayne Grossett’ will wear blue because its bright colour and we associate boys with the colour blue.

However, the theme of our music video will be lively and the setting will be in a pleasant environment, which means that the actors will have to wear bright colours.

This music video by Beyonce is linked with the release of the film ‘Dream Girls’. Therefore there are short scenes of the film within the music video; often the lyrics will link in with the plot of the film advertising both the music and the film.

The music video also links with the film by its scenery as there is a shot of a scene where there’s a photo-shoot and the people are giving each other ‘the looks’ which represents love in the air. There are also scenes of them meeting, talking, arguing and fighting which represents how people start and end relationships.

The atmosphere of the video is lively but it changes at the end of the video, there are dark shots of the woman singing later on creating an impression of sadness.

Music videos shows contrast from one another but they are similar as well. They all aim to portray a video which clearly fits with their lyrics to allow the audience understand the song and also promoting it at the same time. My group and I will make sure that our music video will fit the lyrics of the artist we picked. The mise en scene setting is one of the most essential aspects of the music video.
