COSTUME, PROPS AND MAKE UP

As we used casual and everyday clothes and props for our music video it emphasised the normality of the characters and storyline.

We ensured that the protagonists in the music video wore clothes and make up which could be found in high street shops such as Topshop and New Look. This also will allow the audience to relate to the three protagonists making the music video appeal to those who could relate the music video to elements of their own life.

The choices of costumes, props and make up will also make the music video look natural and not stages which my group and I were trying to achieve.

CLOTHES, PROPS AND MAKE UP

In order to also represent some aspects of Icona Pop within our music video we looked at the way that they had many club scenes within their own music videos. We then wanted to convey this fun carefree atmosphere but in a way which would relate to our target audience of teens and young adults.

We therefore had the music video convey many scenes where the protagonists are going out with their friends and having a good time. This we believe represents the atmosphere of Icona Pop’s music videos and themselves as young artists.

We also tried to recreate some sort of club-like scenes in our music video with dark rooms, neon lights and dancing.

CLOTHES, PROPS AND MAKE UP

As pop music is that of popular culture we chose clothes which were all on trend and relatable to modern teen culture. Clothes such as skater skirts.

In addition in order to convey pop music videos we also ensured that we include the important convention of dance. We did this through the use of a dance mat which allows us to interpret our own unique way of portraying dance, which is both modern and relatable to young people.

The bright colours and lights of pop music videos we reinvented with the use of neon lights and paint which allowed us to use bright colours in various aspects of our music video such as the lip singing scenes

CLOTHES, PROPS AND MAKE UP

In order to convey our narrative in our music video we used props such as an umbrella to convey a miserable or sad beginning to the music video. As the girl is being dumped by her boyfriend. This atmosphere is also reflected through the dark clothes the two characters are wearing in that scene.

However when the narrative becomes much happier when the girls are having a good time, this is also conveyed through the bright clothes being worn.

Furthermore the exciting time of summer is also highlighted through props such as sunglasses.

As we have not used anything which is not normal or natural then this also relates the narrative as that of something which is natural and happens a lot.

CLOTHES, PROPS AND MAKE UP

The clothes, props and make up featured are all natural which encourages the atmosphere of the music video being real rather than staged.

However the bright colours and so forth will also create the upbeat and fun atmosphere which both the song and the music video conveys.

COLOUR AND LIGHTING

The bright and fun colours will attract the audience to watch the music video as it makes it more interesting and entertaining to watch.

Furthermore the use of the neon lights will add a unique effect to the music video making it stand out more to the audience.

COLOUR AND LIGHTING

We represent Icona Pop as we use a lot of bright colours in our music video as they do also.

Furthermore neon lights are also used within Icona Pop’s music video for ‘Manners’ and is another representation of them and their previous music videos other than ‘I Love It’.

The neon lights and dark areas will also relate to Icona Pop’s use of club scenes in their own music videos.

COLOUR AND LIGHTING

As my group and I saw previously during our research is that dark club scenes and bright lights are common elements within pop music video.

We use these elements throughout our music video in scenes such as the split screens, lip singing and bright colourful staircases.

COLOUR AND LIGHTING

In order to convey the narrative of the music video we used the binary oppositions of hot and cold in order to convey the moods and emotions of the storyline.

The use of day and night is also present as many of the dark scenes are used in order to convey the sadness of the narrative whereas the bright scenes are that of the girls having fun.

Furthermore during the beginning of the music video in order to establish the mood of the narrative we used the special effect of making the lighting black and white. This conveyed effectively the mood of the protagonist as she was being dumped.

COLOUR AND LIGHTING

The use of Black and white lighting at the beginning of the music video establishes a mood or atmosphere of something that is negative.

However the bright colourful summer days convey fun and happy times from both the protagonists and the atmosphere.

LOCATION

An important part of our music video was to ensure that we use a lot of exciting and different locations to make out music video entertaining for the audience.

We used locations of London a lot throughout our music video which makes our music video appealing to those who may have an interest in England or London specifically. As our music video shows London to be a place filled with fun we believe that this is also representing London and showing the good sides to the city.

The party locations and scenes also show the young generation having fun and this will appeal and make the music video relatable to that age group.

The large amount of locations used also makes the music video more entertaining for the audience and adds to the montage aspect of the music video.

LOCATION

Throughout our music video we use locations and scenes which Icona Pop have used themselves before within their music videos. Locations such as cites and taxis help us to represent the as artists and convey their atmosphere through our music video; as we use the conventions of their own music videos in ours however adapt them to suit our project.

Represent the Artist

LOCATION

We convey London popular culture within our music video which conveys the genre of pop.

We also used locations which are conventional to the pop genre such as beaches and holiday locations.

LOCATION

We used locations which will also convey a level of the narrative to the audience. For example at the beginning we chose an alleyway location for the beginning of the music video which also conveyed the girl who is trapped within a bad situation or relationship with someone who doesn’t truly care.

However the exciting locations of London and so on conveys that the girl has so many other opportunities ahead of her whilst also giving the audience information of where the character is from.

LOCATION

The varied locations allowed our music video to convey a fast and busy lifestyle of the three girls who are having fun.

My group and I also chose locations which we though will be effective in conveying a fun and entertaining atmosphere for our music video.
