VOLUNTARY DEPARTURE INFO

- Waivers for Safe Haven in Alaska and Hawaii are being pursued, status TBD

- Volunteers for travel are broken into groups for pre-processing

- Pre-Processing will be conducted at the NCO Club Tohoku Ballroom

- Final Processing will be conducted at the O Club Ballroom

VOLUNTARY DEPARTURE

Luggage:

- Each person is authorized 2 pieces of luggage not to exceed 70

lbs each, and1 small carry on.

PETs:

- Up to 2 household pets are authorized per family at no cost to

military members’ dependents.

- DoD civilian dependents are authorized up to 2 pets per

family, but may incur costs for pet transport.

- Pets will not be allowed into Hawaii with an expired FAVN

- IMPORTANT: the standard 6 month quarantine will be required

on return to Misawa AB

DEPARTURE PROCESS

- You will be notified when to pre-process. Notification will be via AFN radio, AFN TV crawler, CAC, Facebook (35th

Fighter Wing), and giant voice. Look for your travel group qualifier.

- Once pre-processing is complete, and we have visibility on what type of aircraft is inbound, (how many seats, how many pets can be accommodated) we will build manifests for departure.

- When aircraft are inbound, you will be notified to report for final processing and boarding. Notification will be via AFN radio, AFN TV crawler, CAC, Facebook (35th Fighter Wing), and giant voice.

PRE-PROCESSING REPORTING TIMELINE

Pre-Processing will be done at the NCO Club, Tohoku Ballroom

Saturday, 19 March Reporting Times:

1000 – 1300

- Personnel who have urgent medical issues (35 MDG will notify you

personally if you meet this criteria)

- Pregnant dependents

1300 – 1600

- Families with infants and toddlers (24 months and under), last name

beginning A – L

1600 – 1900

- Families with infants and toddlers (24 months and under), last name

beginning M – Z

- Documents appointing escort/guardian (for escorted

minors)

DURING PRE-PROCESSING I

- You will;

- Check in with your unit in the hallway

- Proceed into the ballroom and take a seat

- Be called into the line

- See a Chaplain (if desired)

- Complete Post Office mail hold/forward (if

desired)

- Send a message with the Red Cross (if desired)

- Get your orders

DURING PRE-PROCESSING II

- You will;

- Get info from DODDs on school records

- Get a cash advance (if desired) or find out about

your entitlements

- Complete paperwork with CPO (if required)

- Ensure that you have the appropriate Pet papers

- Accomplish legal papers (if desired)

DURING PRE-PROCESSING III

- You will;

- Pick up medical records (only a select few) or

request a prescription refill (to be delivered at Final

Processing)

- Bring your prescription bottle with you!

- If you are staying longer than 30 days, and know

you need medical records, pick them up at the

hospital ASAP!

- Complete pre-processing by receiving a passenger

number, baggage tags and colored wrist band

PRE-PROCESSING COMPLETION

- Leave and await notification for Final Processing and

Departure

- Continue to monitor Misawa AB information channels for

recall to final processing for your flight

***IF we get short notice of your aircraft arriving***

- You may have to pre and final process at the same time

- You will be notified to report for pre and final processing and

to bring your bags/pets

Vehicles:

- Place a completed NEO vehicle placard from your NEO

folder in the windshield. Also, leave the name and contact

information of who has a key to your vehicle.

- You may turn in a key to your vehicle in the final

processing line

FINAL PROCESSING I

- You will be notified when to Final Process by your

assigned passenger number. Notification will be via AFN

radio, AFN TV crawler, CAC, Facebook (35th Fighter Wing),

and giant voice.

- You WILL be departing Misawa

FINAL PROCESSING II

- A bus will pick you up at a point near your quarters

along with your bags and pets (we will help you

with your bags)

- If you ride the bus, leave your car at your

residence

- Or … someone may drop you off at the O’Club

entrance

- DO NOT leave your car at the Collocated Club

VOLUNTARY DEPARTURE

VOLUNTARY DEPARTURE

CAUTION FOR BRINGING YOUR PET(S):

- A 6-month quarantine of pets will be required when they return to

Japan. On base residents may quarantine in house, Off base residents

may not.

- When pets return, they will require:

- Current immunizations

- Current FAVN test (these are valid for 2 years)

- Certificate of health, issued by an appropriate government

or USDA Vet within 10 days of traveling back to Japan.

- Pet owners must have required vaccination records PRIOR to

departing.

VOLUNTARY DEPARTURE

PROCESSING WITH PET(S):

- Before completing the pre-processing line:

- Report to the Vet clinic with your pet

- Must bring airline-approved pet carrier to clinic

- What to Bring when Final Processing for Departure:

- Water bowl

- Kennel Marked with your name and contact information

- Leash

- Enough pet food for 5 days

VOLUNTARY DEPARTURE

VET CLINIC WILL SCREEN PET(S) AND ENSURE THE FOLLOWING:

- Have proper vaccinations (if need rabies vaccination, it will cost $10

cash or check only)

- Have chip (if required, will cost $25)

- Health certificate to fly (to ensure health, no contagious diseases)

VOLUNTARY DEPARTURE

Pets returning to Misawa:

- A New Health Certificate must be obtained within 10 days prior to

return flight

**You may be authorized to bring pets with you, but it is not guaranteed

there will be room on the plane for your pets. You may have to wait for

another flight in order to travel with your pets. We will do our best to

maximize pet counts on aircraft that can accommodate.
